Actually, ni200 can be combined with kanthal. It just throws the readings off a bit in TC but it works.

Haven't tried it and frankly don't see why but I'm surprised it works because the kanthal should really throw off the resistance change for the "temp sensing". Thanks for that, I would have bet it doesn't work

Why don't you twist the ribbon with something like 30 or 32g kanthal?

It throws it off less then one may think. Some people use it, but I prefer to stay away. Ni200 and Titanium for me.

Ni200 in a mech = meltdown. Not to mention the nasty gasses it produces.

I did a 4 foot stretch and have a pretty good result for the first time. Only a few flaws but lots of usable wire. Not as pretty as some of you guys make but looks like it will work.

A slow start and even tension are the keys to consistency. Once you have it rolling, you can increase the speed of the drill...

I went really slow but the problem was not having them taut enough together to begin with. Maybe I should have started with just 2 strands. Will try again later first 2 ribbon and then add the Nichrome.

I did that once, unintentionally; I grabbed the wrong spool of wire... The 10A fuse in my dibi-sumpin' blew instantly.

That was me wrapping Nichrome with Kanthol wire. I did it today and really don't see much of a difference but it does heat up a tiny bit faster.
