Hmmm... 4 jaw chuck... I've been trying to figure out how to center a Titanium cap. The 4 jaw chuck might just do the trick. I even have one! It might work but I suspect the problem I'm having is the original manufacturer had already put it in a chuck (or vice) too right when drilling the air holes. My dial drifts 7-8''' when trying to center it in my 3 jaw chuck.

It's beginning to look like I paid good money for a piece of scrap. I suppose I could just get a piece if Ti and make my own... Oh wait... I didn't just say that... Did I?

Ok I'll go back to lurking now.

If you have 7-8000ths drift the thing is certainly off so if you have the thickness you could try to shave off enough to true it. Problem is it's Titanium so I don't know how easy it'll be. Are we talking about an atty cap?

Marquis atty cap. The last ledge wasn't cut deep enough and it doesn't fully seat on the atty. After some thought I'm thinking it will be easier to cut the ledge on the atty base. Skin the cat from the other direction so to speak.

Come to think of it are you having problems putting the cap on the atty? If so I'm not too sure there's much you can do. The only thing I can think of is perhaps take some off (maybe 1/1000) off the atty base and solve the problem that way

I got the bodies shaped yesterday and got the caps shaped to match the bodies today. I'm ready to start putting magnets in the caps, and plan to do that today still.
