would love to see these two in person! (or larger/better resolution)
I'm very intrigued (which is to say, I could stare at them for some time).

they honestly don't offer much up close, but i'll see what i can do

they are mezzotint, which involves rocking one of these:

back and forth for hours into days. The tool has little burrs, so the whole etching plate then prints flat black

then tools like this

to selectively smooth parts of the plate for whites and greys

you get a kinda luminous, but foggy-ish image that looks good from a distance

that top one is around 18 inches tall, which took a lot of rocking with the tool

well that's just bizarre! :?: (watched a couple of videos)
what an insane process! :D

really intriguing tho, how it "treats" the resulting light and shadow.
that must be what caught my eye.

Standard for most printmakers, who actually profit from their work, is to get the black ground part outsourced

Couldn't find the mostly square one, but did find "proofs". Ie: the testing, to see how the plate looks, adding, taking back, adding drypoint etc

12 MP in shoddy light, so still not the best pics

And I think the other one, I only have the 2 of 8 prints that didn't go so well

Do Mitsubishi make good cars? Because their refrigerators suck. Mine just died after only 6 years
Depends on the model. The Lancer Evolution MR's are pretty nice, but thats the only one and they're twice as much as the other Mitsubishi models. I dont think the MR would do much to keep your food cold though, plus 6 years is pushing it for Mitsubishi's cars too.

Karma, for the koala joke, i guess

Only if you had koala steaks in the fridge,

You didn’t have koala steaks in there didja

That stinks, sorry.

Especially if those koala steaks went rancid

Grats on the (eventual) new fridge.

Great looking art Dan, and an awesome gesture.

Hey Tam

Why would you replace a six year old fridge? What's wrong with it that can't be fixed for less than a new one costs?
If you can find a repairman for cheaper than a new fridge I need his name. It's $149 min. house call here never mind parts and labor. Brand spankin new huge Samsung fridge $800

OK, so if parts & labor are ~$250, you're still half the cost of a new one.

Last time we had a guy over for the washer the final bill but slightly over $600 so I can't believe a fridge would be less. We took to buying new instead if it was something the hubby couldn't fix.
