0% PG eLiquid flavorants? ... and I truly mean 0%

I started vaping about three months ago. I have tinnitus (constant ringing in the ears -- mine's caused by sustained exposure to loud noise from a few decades of being rock bands and a few years in the army carrying an M60 machine gun. Anyway...). My ringing "volume" has increased since beginning to vape. I started out dragging on 50vg/50pg juice and noticed the increase. Did some research and an increase in tinnitus has been linked to mild nicotine overdose and to the presence of PG in eliquids. I've been through a 30ml bottle each of 60/40, 70/30, 80/20, and maxVG (all at 3mg nic strength)... and noticed the ringing lessening but still "louder" than before I started to vape. To completely rule out either nic overuse or PG, I just spent a terrible (flavorless) 10 days vaping 100%VG (added some distilled water to deal with viscosity issues but no nic, no flavorants) and my tinnitus dropped back to pre-vaping levels.

I know that most flavorants use PG, as it is an excellent carrier of flavor. I also know that some vendors claims of 100%VG liquids really means 100%VG except for the 10-20% PG based flavorants (which just makes these maxVG, yes? ... gotta love marketing!).

I want to DIY my own 100% vg juices. Can anyone recommend flavor vendors, or home-made procedures to make your own flavorants that truly contain 0% PG?

***please type loudly, so i can hear you over the ringing! :)

Really sorry to hear about your tinnitus! I know a few airplane pilots with that, it is really disturbing to have that always with you, people don't realize how tough it is to live with!

you are correct, though. Almost all vendors saying they have 100% VG eliquids are talking about the BASE (i.e. the dilutant) ....not the flavorings, which are mostly PG. !!!!

Alien Visions may be a good place to inquire for premade.

If you DIY you will want to look for flavorings that use alcohol and/or VG or triacetin instead, usually super concentrated flavorings. But you will have to let the alcohol evaporate after you make your DIY.

Also talk to the nice lady Dawn at DIY Flavorshack. She has a forum topic here .... She has flavorings that contain no PG:
VG Only

Also talk to Vicki over at Cignot, I believe the Basic line has zero PG in the flavorings.

And Linda over at TPA, she can find you flavorings w/ zero PG:
Perfumers Apprentice - Flavors - Non PG

BROKE MY HEART when ECOpure stopped sellling to the US.....not sure what the deal is now? I would still be only using them, as my vendor, all along. Best stuff ever, in the entire 3+ years I've been vaping. Nothing ever came close. (I'm sure others will agree with me on this.) intellicig-USA.com Buy Intellicig EVO Electronic Cigarette & ECOPure by intellicig, The intelligent e-smoking e-cig alternative.
They only do menthol and lite tobacco flavors though, but it was VERY GOOD CLEAN STUFF.

You might ask at innovapor.com and see what they have with their ultrapure line. Other one I can think of is Johnson Creek...you would have to ask them if their VG only line contains NO PG at all. Perhaps, but not sure.

There was another gal on this forum back in 2012 who couldn't have ANY PG, and I mean none at all, not even a trace of it. If I remember who it was, and can find those topics i will post back to ya.

Yes, the ethyl alcohol flavorings that I mentioned.

Just wanted to say keep in mind that a lot of people can taste the ethyl alcohol (I know virgin vapors uses this) and find it offensive.....

Also flavour art, capellas, Sorcerer's Apprentice, and even decadent vapour over in the UK .....ALL their flavorings are PG based, so if you are avoiding even a trace, you really have to ask ask and ask.

Found more at Vermont Vapor
found many eliquid pre mixed that say "This e-Liquid is completely PG-free "

( I actually find it REALLY annoying that so many eliquid vendors say they are 100% VG and they're NOT. Again, they are talking about the dilutant used, not the flavorings! they really neeed to stop saying this on their websites, and be more specific, i.e. that no PG whatsoever is used in the manufacture of their eliquid. None means 0%.)

I am also very allergic to PG. It makes my sinuses swell up so much that I can't breathe through my nose. Have you tried making unflavored juice with nothing but nicotine, VG and distilled water? I vape unflavored about half the time.

Vaping Zone makes what they call Super Concentrated flavors. Some of these flavors cause me minor irritation, but Peppermint and Dragon Fruit seem the to cause no symptoms. I also use Wizard Labs Ethyl Maltol (SP?) crystals dissolved in distilled water. I don't recommend EM by itself but it seems to smooth out other flavorings.

Thanks a lot for this thread the replies have given me a lot of useful information.

In the red pin stickies at the top of the forum there is an old list of PG free flavorings. I've tried many of the listed flavorings but most still cause serious irritation (for whatever reason).

Yeah, perhaps those flavors contain a lot of ethyl alcohol. I can't get near that stuff. Plus, I know that drinking alcohol is a risk for esophageal cancer, and repeated assaults on the esophageal tissues, which are very fragile, doesn't seem like a "good idea" to me as far as vaping goes, either. :)
