1.5 ohm carto at 4 volts?

Ok this seems like a noobish question for me, but I have one of those dual coil cartos in the tank right now. It seemed a bit weak at 3.6 volts and now I'm turned up to 4.1
According to some simple math shouldn't it have exploded by now? Or at least taste burnt? The ohm checker on my device is reading 1.5 ohms. Is there something special about the dual coils that allow more voltage to run through them? Do they require it?

vaping a smoktech dual coil carto punched in a tank on a Provari at 4.1 volts. Provari reads it as 1.5 ohms.

See this makes sense to me. Lower resistance, but the power is spread across two coils. The new Provari has a 3.5 amp switch. THe calculator I was looking at suggested around 10 watts of power at my current setting.

Seems to me that the only benefit to dual coils that I can tell, is having the extra warmth. I like a warmer vape. Math-wise I'd probably be better off with a single coil? Just my thoughts.

A little bit off, there.

In parallel, you have two resistors. Each is 3 ohms. The parallel configuration provides total resistance (ohms) of 1.5.

This allows each one to use half the energy as a single coil. Combined, they use the same amount as a single coil of equivalent ohms rating.

An argument can be made that a dual coil could possibly provide a cooler vape, if there's any difference at all. It shouldn't be warmer at all.

Objectively, I don't see a benefit, really, to dual coil. I haven't tested both side by side, but I'd like to. From a numbers standpoint, it doesn't make enough sense to justify the cents ;-)

I personally prefer using single coils. I started out using dual coils and noticed after a while that many of them began to get a burnt taste to them. I was using the correct resistance for the battery device I was using, and I'm quite certain that the carto was adequately full of juice.

I switched to single coils and have rarely experienced the burnt taste like I did with the dual coils. I do get more duration on my battery use (despite the physics lesson). Same vapor production.

I theorize that with dual coils the uppermost coil, being located more toward the middle of the cartomizer, often does not get enough juice around it as you vape it, and can burn the dryer filler material around it. The only way to avoid this is to frequently top off the cart with additional juice as you vape it.

Using it in a cartotank is not a solution, as the juice fill holes are located in the bottom of the cartomizer, still allowing the upper coil to eventually go dry. I attempted to display this in the below diagram.
