There has got to be some kind of a formula for this, but 1ml of 8mg Nic juice = 20 cigarettes ain't it.

I used to smoke 2 packs (40 cigarettes) of Marlboro Red per day.

Now I vape 5 ml of 15mg Nic juice per day (75mg Nic total). That seems to give the same effect of 40 cigarettes.

So, 37.5mg Nic should equal 20 cigarettes (1 pack) .... give or take

So, 1.9mg Nic should equal 1 full-flavored (high nicotine) cigarette

There's a lot more variables than just nic content, but if I had to rough estimate I'd say maybe 4mg of nic equals 1 cigarette. So 1ml of 8mg nic would be 2 cigs. I vape about 3ml of 12mg nic, so 36mg/day, usually less. I used to smoke 10 cigs/day. But they're not REALLY equivalent.

What they should be considering is relative harm where 1ml of e-liquid probably equals the relative harm of 0.001 cigarette or less. So for each cigarette you would have smoked, you can vape 1000ml or more and still not get the same relative harm.*

*all numbers are pulled out of my backside, but they're probably right.

This is Cig-a-like Propaganda being Forced of the People.
i.e. One Disposable Lite Cig-a-like advertised as Equal to a Pack.

Yea, been there and Never want to go Back. Lasted about a week and I had moved to EGO tanks and 1.7ml Cartomizers using 2 tanks on work days(no in plant use) with 12hr shifts. and 3-4 tanks a day when off work. (12mg/ml)

For ME this was balancing a 1.5PAD habit to beat Smoking.

I Can See Now the (TAX)Money aspect of Regulation is coming into Play.
You know, the part the Lie and Deny..............Until getting E-cigarettes under Authority.

The interesting part is their Target of Mg Nicotine Per ML for Maximum Tax Control over ML of E-liquid sold.

I'm also assuming 8gm is going to be the Gold Standard?(Max Allowable)

Will those Desiring a Lower Mg have availability?
Will such be taxed at a lower cost to the Consumer?

I don't believe there is a calculable analogue between cigarettes and vaping when it comes the nicotine consumption. It's only those that want to quantify how much tax-rape to apply that are making any serious attempts to do so.

I think most vapers take less puffs, but with shorter intervals between hits and as a result probably overall their nicotine consumption may be higher (dependent of many factors of course). Also I found the main factor that limited my smoking was the foul burning taste like I'd dipped my tongue in an ashtray. Sweet rich tasty clouds have no such limits, so when I get to it I tend to vape a lot.

It appears the European Union for reasons of taxation thinks that
1ml of 8mg of nicotine is equal to a pack of 20 cigarettes.

Any opinions of how accurate this is + or -.

1ml of 8mg/ml liquid contains 8mg of nicotine.

according to
How Much Nicotine Is In One Cigarette?
a cigarette contains more than 1mg of nicotine, and less than 100mg of nicotine;
it says it's between 8mg and 20mg.

I'll just use 10mg per cigarette as the ballpark figure.

A cig maybe has x amount but how much of the whole cig is inhaled and what % is actually absorbed into the bloodstream ? most researches will say 1.2 mg some 1.0 mg

Unfortunately we are already seeing this in the states where state governments are trying to equate ml to cigarettes to tax eliquid at the same rate as cigarettes and those commercials advertising 1 cigalike is equal to a pack of cigarettes (or more) is really going to hurt us in the end. In Ohio going by that calculation the proposed tax would have equated to about $48.00 on a 30 ml bottle of eliquid, fortunately, it did not pass but this is only the beginning.

It all really depends on how it's being measured -- by milligrams of nic per volume of vapor/smoke, by milligrams of nic absorbed into the body, by milliliters of juice consumed, by # of puffs, by impact on health, etc. I don't see 1ml equaling a pack of cigarettes on any of those scales, but I guess I could be wrong.

The CDC says there is anywhere between 8mg - 20 mg of nicotine per cigarette, so we'll use 12mg per cig as a middle ground. Here's my analysis with absolutely no scientific value:

Cigarette
3-seconds puffs per cigarette = 10
Nicotine per cigarette = 12 mg
Pack = 20 cigarettes (200 puffs & 240 mg of nicotine)

If we go off of this, then a PAD smoker can vape 240mg of nicotine a day and be on level ground. This breaks down to:
  • 6.6ml / 36mg juice a day
  • 10ml / 24mg juice a day
  • 13.2ml / 18mg juice a day
  • 20ml / 12mg juice a day
  • 40ml / 6mg juice a day
  • 80ml / 3mg juice a day

All that being considered, the closest analog to a real cigarette, in my opinion, is the following:

Cigalike / 808 Vape Pen
3-second puffs per ml = 50
Nicotine per ml = 24mg
Pack = 10ml / 24mg juice (200 puffs & 240 mg of nicotine)

These all seem like crazy numbers I am new to vaping but on my endura t22 I don't even use 4mil of 18mg and smoked a pack a day a week ago and only 2 smokes a day now.

If you were smoking cigarettes that only had 8mg of nicotine in them, then you were only getting 160mg of nic per pack. If you now smoke 2 cigs a day (16mg of nic) plus 4ml of 18mg (72mg of nic) then you've stepped down from 160mg to 90mg of nic, or about half.

Well that's awesome but I made that step down first day vaping. Guess I was smoking marlboro lights. Don't have any idea what nic lvl Is in them. Maybe my whole thing was the motions of it then. I guess I have been told you get different amounts of nic delivered depending on device I use. Like if I were to switch to a sub Ohm I wouldn't be able to stand 18mg juice.

This is why I think vaping can be a great quitting tool. You can cut down on the nic without cutting down on how much you smoke (in terms of puffs). I don't think your body notices as much when you still get to go through all the same motions + get some nicotine.

Which is why I am doing it for sure!
