Passing this milestone as I type! $1,800.09 not spent on cigarettes. Can't really get my head around the fact that if I hadn't discovered ecigs, I'd have smoked TEN THOUSAND cigarettes by now... Gotta go order up the cake and mix some champagne juice!

Many congrats on the wonderful achievement! You done very, very GOOD! (Get some real champagne to go with that juice for THIS milestone!.....lol)

I took the time to figure it up one day. I smoked approximately 300,000 cigarettes in my near 40 years of smoking before i quit 2 years ago. About 20,000 avoided since then but my gosh....

Three. hundred. thousand. cigarettes. smoked.

You made me do my own math. Over 25 years, approximately 182,500 cigarettes smoked. Makes me want to cry. How could I have let myself do that to myself? I guess when it's one at a time you don't stop to count. Sadder thing - I enjoyed almost every single one of them. No more......no more.

AgentAnia - FanFreakinTastic! Good for you.
Such a wonderful thing, this whole vaping culture.

So far my count is only about 20 analogs, but this is my first day vaping.

Thats 20 less coffin nails, keep it up mate you will feel alot better in the coming weeks.

I did my maths after 50 years of smoking = appox 456,250 ciggies, most probably nearer to half a million.

Bloody hell..................

CONGRATULATIONS, Dima! First Day is the first milestone, and IMO the most remarkable milestone. Whether or not you ever smoke another analog, you are now officially a vaper. Welcome to the team!!!

A great accomplishment Ania. I have a long way to go to catch up with you. When did you quit?

When did you quit?

Vaped my first ecig on October 27, 2012. Smoked my last analog October 31, 2012. Those 5 days I both vaped and smoked, I did so only to finish an open pack of analogs. Wish now I'd simply binned that open pack; then I could say "I stopped smoking in one day!" But alas, my frugality spoiled that triumph... Oh well, water under the and so forth... I'm a vaper now, and that's what's important. :)

Did similar math for 56 smoking years (tho history's a bit dim for the earlier years...) and came up with around 760,000 cigs.

Bloody hell indeed!

I quit on Jan 25, though I have smoked a small number of cigarettes since then I still consider it my quit date. (Let's not quibble over what amounts to less than a pack.) For the last several years I estimate that I only smoked around 12 cigarettes a day so I'm still in the low thousands.

I'm finding it fascinating that most of us seem to have concentrated on money not spent (MNS) on cigs rather than number of cigs not smoked (CNS), when in fact and IMO the CNS is much the more significant achievement! Each and every one of us deserves a pat on the back for each and every cigarette not smoked! (Bruises may result, but what the hell...)

About MNS, though, I just did some rough math and realized that I broke even about 2 months ago, even with all the startup costs and then the expenditures resulting from "shinyitis" and "new toy syndrome." So yea! again! [pat on back]
