So I've been vaping a menthol tobacco off and on, couple times a day, but it's a commercial juice and the nic is much too high. Lately I've noticed that it is causing me to cough. Had this problem with my own DIY juices until I lowered the nic.

Now I've decided to try making a menthol tobacco of my own, with less nic. What is a good starting percentage of the menthol? Is there a particular tobacco flavor that you like with it? I have about 8-10 different tobacco flavors and not too sure where to start with that. I absolutely love my DK555, but not too sure how well it will taste with the menthol.

Any thought or advice are appreciated.

10% menthol is too much.
I'd start with a few drops.
I made a mix for a buddy that wanted heavy menthol tobacco.
I made him 3 batchs.
Same flavor but 4, 6 and 8 drops of menthol.
He liked 6 drops the best.
I made a juice with 1.5% menthol and it about knocked my socks off!

You misunderstood, it's the 10% premixed menthol flavor liquid from TFA. I wasn't going to put 10% IN it. I have the menthol crystals too, but haven't mix them in pg to dissolve yet, so thought that I'd use the premade I ordered a while back.

I figured it would be a tiny amount, like most additives, maybe a drop in 5mls, etc. That's what I was curious about and which tobacco flavor to try.

You used 6 drops in how much base though? 5ml, 10ml, 30 ml...makes a big difference. I appreciate the reply.

I make my own from crystals. Following the tfa instructions for using their crystals. I'm not sure if that is the same as their premixed liquid. Most likely is.
What, you're not a mid reader? Hehehe. Sorry, I meant to put in the drops per volume. Thought I did. I was talking 10ml batches.
6 drops in 10ml was too much for me, personally, but my friend liked it.
2 drops per 10ml is very noticeable to me. I am sensitive to menthol though.

I was making a Menthol Tobacco for a friend still smoking this is what he liked. Below is what is suggested for mixing the Crystals

Menthol crystals.

Use sparingly as these menthol crystals are very strong. A little goes a long way! You may also make your own menthol drops by placing a few grams of crystals into an alcohol base such as ethanol (vodka).
TIP: To dissolve, fill a container half way with VG or PG, then the other half with menthol crystals. Shake until dissolved. Heating the VG or PG first will speed up the process. Try starting out at 5% in your recipe of that solution that you made.

My friend liked 5% Menthol added to his Tobacco mix (too much for me) I like a few drops.

While digging around today, I found I had made a 5ml test of Menthol, using the 10% liquid, at 3%. (a couple months ago) Made with nic, but no tobacco flavor. The menthol level seems to be fine, just 'plain'. I think it would be better if it had a light tobacco flavor with it.

Looking at my tobacco flavors, I'm thinking either M-Type or Tobacco Type, being the basic without extras? I have the Ry4's, Flu Cured and 555, just not sure how those would work out. Anyone use the 'flavored' type tobaccos with a menthol? I also have the PG Tobacco Absolute.

I appreciate the ideas!

Do you have experience with these flavors?

Of the flavors listed, I'd pick M-Type or Flu Cured as your best choices. With M-Type, you'll likely want somewhere between 0.5 to 1.0% flavoring and a long steep. I've also previously considered that TFA Cowboy might make a good menthol. Otherwise, I would suggest RY4 Asian (TFA) or Hangsen's RY1. I haven't mixed these as menthol but that's how I would proceed.
