I've been a Mac geek since the 521K in, like, '87 or there abouts. Keyboard shortcuts started out as nice, simple, helpful things like command-v or command-z. They have gone completely whacky over the years. Then came unicode and aaAAIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
(I get the need for it. It's just the sheer volume of code sets out there and the UTF-8 and the UTF-16 and the UTF-4,890,623... anybody got any Advil?)
"Ohm" should be option-z.
But I hear you on the symbols for the keys. Why is an caret = "control key"? And what is that thing for "option key" anyway? A staircase maybe???
You may actually have a forward delete. Try the "del" key. Not "delete" but the little one that is often grouped with "ins", "home", "end", "page up", etc. I think there's another one out there that looks like some crazy "cheat code" in a video game but I don't remember it.
What drives me absolutely bonkers (being basically a Unix guy) is they moved to *Nix base but "home" and "end" still don't work the way they should. Unless they do. 'Cause some programs remap the keyboard so sometimes they work the Mac way, sometimes the Unix way.
Somebody make it stop!!!!
