So I decided to contact a Chinese manufacturer and get a litre of what they claim to be 1000mg/ml pure nicotine...

Got it, chucked both 500ml bottles in freezer and 2 days later they're frozen rock solid....

From what I've read, pure nic salt won't freeze untill minus 80degree Celcius.... My freezer don't get that cold LOL...

Been stooged, havnt I......

Any way of having it tested?

Was contemplating sending 30ml away to a lab to get HPLC tested...

Any advice/recommendations are appreciated

Thanks guys

It could be that the Chinese company used water as a base to dissolve the nicotine in, instead of vg or pg. Nicotine is soluble in water. It's a lot cheaper than vg/pg and thus the lower cost. Who knows if you even got the nicotine level you paid for? It'll cost a lot more but find a more reputable source next time.

With the freezing deal, and the possibility of it being 1000, and not really knowing what you've got there, etc, I suggest you just cut your losses and take it to a hazardous substance drop off. It's just not worth taking the chance. And be really careful not to drop the bottles on the way there. Put it in a freezer box or something.

Don't know where you are but in the US the Fire Dept will come round and take away potentially toxic substances safely for free. An old guy in my neighborhood died and his son found 24 bottles of mercury in the garage. He called the Fire Dept.

If you're determined to go ahead, I just googled "how to test the concentration of liquid nicotine" and got a bunch of hits. Just be aware that if you spill a bottle on the kitchen floor you might not make it out.
