100vg TFA Fruits Help (Newbie)

Hi fellow ECF'ers. I'm new to vaping (5 months now) and where I am (Australia) the retail of nicotine is illegal and reserved for the pharmaceutical companies and since i wanted to vape to quit cigarettes I thought I'd need nicotine containing e-liquid. As a result I have imported my own VG and Nic base to DIY my own e-liquid (from RTS Vapes). My mother is sensitive to PG based e-liquids so I thought I'd have a shot of doing 100VG mixes and trying my hand at a totally organic recipe.

So I did some research online and found that Natures Flavours stock organic extracts. I wanted to stick with fruit mixes so I ordered a whole bunch including blueberry, mango, plum, apple, raspberry etc. I made a few batches varying from 15-20% flavouring and the rest VG and nic. However, I've had zero luck with getting nice tasting e-liquids, and I cant seem to get rid of the ethanolly taste even after letting it breath for a few days. Not only that I find all the flavours dont taste like what they should and I cant really explain what they do taste like except maybe theyre soapy/alcoholly tasting and most end up tasting very similar.

So brushing it off as a product line issue I thought I'd try TFA flavours even thought theyre not 100% organic. I found a list of recommended flavour percentages at V-Ecigs. Significantly better experience i.e. strawberry and apple TASTE like strawberry and apple HOWEVER the flavours are severely muted or barely even there.

So my question is to those who have tried 100VG diy mixes with TFA fruits who have had success AND ONLY THOSE who have tried this as I've seen in many forums ppl suggested things who have not tried it themselves and I think that that only creates confusion (well it did to me any way).

Questions that I am thinking:

1. should I try adding DW or Saline Solution.
2. should I add EM or other additive (like sour?)
3. does 100%VG require significantly more steep time (i've only tried 2-3 days steep so far)
4. do I need to do a hot water bath with 100VG liquids to help the flavours meld in such a viscous liquid.

I've tried 50/50, and 70/30 VG/PG mixes (Hangsen, and local B&M liquids) and I now have a standard of how much flavours should pop, and 100VG of that which I have tried just doesn't cut the mustard.

I've tried searching about it within ECF and found one such person who has posted what i am talking about but no one has replied (since early 2014), so I thought I'd try out my luck.

Thanks for listening and looking forward to any help thrown my way.

Hello and welcome to the forum Crimson. Glad to have you here!:)

I do not have extensive knowledge of TFA but I have seen this thread: The Flavor Apprentice Flavoring Thread. There also may be a "sticky" in DIY forum regarding beginning % to start with regarding TFA flavors.

For all things DIY head on over to the DIY ELiquid Forum. You will not be able to post there until you get in your first 5 posts. Make sure to read all the "stickies". Also check out the blogs by ECF members Hoosier & dannyv45.

For a juice mixing calculator consider using eJuiceMeUp
