OK, now I just know I'm going to hear it for this one... but I'm missing the super-mini form factor. :(

Now, I know I can get a 510 super mini at 180 mAh, for ten bucks or less. However, that's no fun for a modder! It got me thinking that building a super-mini mod, with replaceable 10440's might be kinda fun and challenging to work in that small space. The 10440 batteries are 350 mAh so ... why not. I'm sure someone has built a tube mod with these... they're only slightly larger (fatter) than a standard 510. Carry a handfull of $3.00-$5.00 batteries with you and just swap as needed. Would be a 3.7 volt mod, of course (may depend on voltage drop across MOSFET).

Is/was this commonly tried? What were the results?

For the record, I'm using 14500's in a 5v mod right now, but sometimes get sick of the 3xAA box form factor. Otherwise, it's great. I'm just in the "mod mood" and was thinking about this. 10440 with a 2-2.5 ohm atty sounds great. I already have a charger....

Specs: Copper tube, LDO power MOSFET with (hopefully decent) micro switch, 10440 batt, 510 connector... maybe LED.

So what's the scoop/history on 10440's? Thoughts on the mod?

there are a few companies with 10440 batts in them, I kow there is a GG slim and a precise 10440 and I think a precious...
however as you said these are not much more mah than a kr808 battery at 300 mah for a bloog and less than a 380 mah from a v4l xl kr808....sooooo....it makes it less attractive to pay 100 dollars for a mod that a 14 dollar battery can do on its own.

hmmm.... I didn't know that the v4l xl kr808 was 380..... may have to just check it out instead. Sounds bulkier (longer), but hey.

I'm just seeing a lot of posts in other mods that use the 10440's saying something like "too bad it uses 10440's..." etc. The little sister mod looks interesting, but isn't a tube mod. Same for Connman's famous 3-minute-lighter-mod. So, I'll check the kr808's out too I guess....

Good point on the $100 10440 mod being similar to a $14 kr808.

People seem to have a bit of history on the 10440's. I was just wondering if there is a tube mod done? Probably not much point.... seemed like a good form factor tho.

Thanks S.McG.

It's really about the form factor tho... I'm thinking 7/16 or 1/2 inch copper tube.... not too much bigger than an atty in diameter. Maybe some laser pointers are that small. I'll have to dig around.

Well like I said there are a few of them around

and they are small...
but then again so is the v4l (well compared to most things anyway)

I guess it comes down to whether you think paying 119 on the front end is worth having cheaper batteries down the road (I know you can get 10440's for 5 bucks) or if you think paying 18 bucks a pop on replacement v4l's...assuming they both ran out every 3 months you would have to go 22 months before you started seeing savings on the mod....and loosing one of the tiny buggers isn't as big of a deal if its only 20 bucks to replace it.

Thanks you guys! Yeah, I agree that they won't last long.... but.... they WILL last longER than a standard 510. The thought is: A handful of AAA sized L-ion batteries and you would be set. Good point about the HV vape utak3r.

Like the pics that Goldenkobold provided.... I think I can make a 10440 mod for about $20.00 (instead of the $119.00 quoted above) that would do the same thing. The kicker is really that kr808. lol. The 510's just don't have the mAh. The kr808's have me thinking "buy one instead".

I will have to give it more thought. 3 - 5 dollar 10440 batteries are still attractive for the long haul. And I always have my 14500 mods to fall back on.

That's for sure :) Whatever 10440s I've bought all of them had really around 300-400mAh (regardless they were signed as 600mAh, lol...) - that's pretty longer vaping than standard or even the bigger batt from 510 :)

Another thought: a single 10440 cannot give you any big current - and that's why I've made my HV of them: this way they can give you pretty nice, strong vaping - and it's still small and really handy. Plus, they can be reloaded in an hour or so, so it's not too long.

Yes, that's the issue... amps! Bet ya can't get much from them. Wonder how a 10440 compares to a standard kr808 in amps? Probably depends on the brand/type.

kot1rc5 thx for the examples.

Yes, I think 5 v/HV is better. It requires 2 of em, of course. That means a tube mod would be too long, I think. The little sister form factor is cool. Maybe a 2xAAA or 3xAAA box..... I find the 14500's box mod (3xAA) to be a great vape, but a bit bulky.

I once made a 10440 out of a clear lip balm/chapstick case. Twist the top to make connection, twist again to turn it off. Made a good lock for pocket use. If I had spent more time on it, a switch could have probably been added. I used a brass prong fastener to run bottom connection up to the twist. Bend it right and it stays in place without soldering or gluing.
