I'm using 15 gauge, which works but takes a little patience when drawing up VG. I've also been wanting something longer to reach into the bottles better. I just threw these into my cart:

I've always used 14Ga plastic tips on a 30ml bottle for refilling tanks. They flow much easier but probably too short for diy. Must be because they're flared instead of a straight tube, like the metal ones.

I bought quite a few blunt needle tips in 14ga, 15ga, 16ga, and 18ga over the last year or so. I measured by volume like 99% of everyone else who does it that way...measuring out every liquid with a syringe and blunt needle tip.

Then, I came up with a way to measure (still by volume), but the only things I draw out now with syringes are the flavorings and the nic. I no longer use a syringe and blunt needle tip for the plain PG nor the plain VG. Those I just shoot into the mixing bottle up to a marked line for each one, based on my PG/VG ratio I want to end up with.

It's kind of a lengthy explanation of how I do it, but actually doing it is easy and time-saving. I've taught 2 local people the method so far. One had already bought a scale (to measure by weight), but after seeing this method...he measures by volume now. The other one didn't want to do it by weight from the get go. I'm meeting with, and teaching, yet another newbie to DIY about it tomorrow. If anyone's interested in learning how it's done...please PM me. Won't be able to answer you until I get back in town tomorrow late afternoon, but I will respond ASAP.

@JCinFLA: I'm not going to try to guess what your mystery technique is. But, I have found that for mixing I really like using pipettes with a pump. I'm still in a state of transition though, having used syringes for years and the pipettes are a pretty new addition to my toolbox. So far, I'm liking them. I'm just a slave to nifty labware. So, I had to get the 12 gauge 5" needles, heh. I have no doubt they'll be useful.

I'll keep my gram scales for weighing solids and coins.

@NCC - Actually, there's no mystery to the way I do it now, it's just an easier way and takes me less time. It just takes alittle explaining to get people who are new to DIY to understand it. Didn't want to post it and just cause confusion for them and/or to have my explanations take over someone else's thread.

By the way, I'm not familiar with pipettes with a pump at all. I'm "old school", too, and had been using methods I learned in school and then retaught to others for 30 years while teaching. If those pipettes with a pump work for you and you're having fun...I say "go for it"!

No, no...I didn't say that because I thought your posts were OT. Just that my explanation of my method shouldn't be on here. You're fine...yours related to using different blunt needles!

I've often thought about marking a bottle or other container and use for guide-line, and it imho is a more effecient method than standard volume based syringe dispensing, but to me using a scale is pretty much the same i.e. shooting for a line on the container vs shooting for a value on the big lid-up display on the scale. The difference to me is not needing to look at a sheet/calculator for the value and just go for the line instead, though you have more varience in amount to mix and ratios also.

The whole reason for the lines is imho to not do syringe-dispensing from one object to another and clean the first object afterwards, which is the exact same with the scale, just with more freedom for amount, container-used and ratios(also if adding lines for nic, then different mg nicbases and different ratios is also not possible and "locked-down"). Scale-usage is imho your version with more flexibility... Agreed though, that with everything "fixed", then yours is a couple secs faster, than checking the premade sheet with gram values first, for your regular mix. Though you could set a label on the bottle with all the gram values too, and it would be splitting hairs which is quicker imho. I have a scale with a very big lid-up display which to me is just as nice as "lines".

Sorry not trying to say one method is better than the other, as whatever works, works

I have always used the 14 gauge luer lock needles to fill my tanks with. I keep my finished ejuice in 30ml bottles with the luer caps on them and when I go to fill a tank, I just removed the stopper plug and put the needle on. Here is an example tho I bought supplies elsewhere in 2010 long before most found these.

I've been using Luer lock blunt needles for many years, they work -great- for dispensing liquids. They come in many different diameters and lengths, for dispensing VG my favorite is the 3" long 12ga needles.
