Welcome! What your going through is normal. Our bodies will detox mostly from the other garbage they put in cigarettes and can be uncomfortable for some. If your using a mouth to lung device than you can up your nicotine if you feel you need to. Not sure about DL (sub ohm) vaping as I don't do that myself, but if you mention what type of tank you use others will be able to help out more.

Welcome .... As others have suggested, upping your nicotine level is worth a try. There's a lot more to cigarettes than just nicotine and depending on what brand you smoked, the withdrawal will vary. 15 days without smoking is a big accomplishment so you're on the right track.

Welcome! When I started vaping in August, I was in the same boat as you (except I had smoked for even longer). I vaped juice at 24mg for over the first four months and am only now beginning to reduce my nicotine intake. If you vape at a high enough nic level, you should not experience any overwhelming physical craving (psychological craving is a different matter).

Don't want to jinx you, but don't freak out if you break down and smoke a cigarette. Just keep vaping.

I still smoke 1 or 2 per day so your 15 days is impressive. Good luck!

Welcome @tenbellies !

That's a tough question to answer since we all have different levels of "wants/needs for a smoke." As a 40+ year smoker who failed many times with different quit methods (before succeeding with vaping :D), I know the feeling as most everybody else does.

Depending on your gear, the 12mg nic could be too low or it could be on the high end. Fill us in on your mod/battery and tank.

And don't discount the possibility some or even all of that need is that little devil sitting on your shoulder, whispering in your ear that you just aren't going to make it through the day without giving in. In time, he will give up!

So, just a couple things I did knowing my own needs and desires. I started with 2 complete set-ups. I wanted the assurance that I would not run out of battery (kinda like not having a light for my smoke) as well as the ability to quickly change flavors. Yes, I started with 2 flavors I liked at the time.....just knowing I would/might tire and lose interest in one. After smoking the same cigarettes all those years, sounded wonderful to have a change of pace whenever I wanted....and it was and still is (and now my count of flavors is around a dozen :D). Even after finding a couple I liked, I kept trying others. Seems there was/is always a flavor that surpasses a previous favorite, as well as the possibility the maker will stop making a flavor (has happened to me several times). And be willing to try flavors that might not sound that good. You never know if/when you are gonna find a gem!

Now that I have bored you with all that, I'll get to the important point. Once you find the flavor(s) that a choice between that vape and a smoke comes easy, that little devil will surely give up and move on! And should he ever stop back for another try, stop by and make a post. This place is the best support group there is!

Good luck, it does work! :vapor: :vapor: :vapor:

Hang in there tenbellies.

You are just about Over the Hump. Its Time to Grit Your Teeth and Put Smoking Behind you Once and For All.

You can Make It. You just have to Laugh at the Pain sometimes.

BTW - A Big Part of the Reason (IMO) you feel like you do Isn't because you are not getting enough Nicotine. It is Because you are Not Getting those Dozens and Dozens of Extra Chemicals you used to Inhale when you Smoked.

They put a Lot of (FDA Approved) Chemicals into Cigarette Tobacco. And (IMO) you can be just as Addicted to Inhaling them as you can be to Inhaling Nicotine.

BTW2 - If the ONLY thing keeping you from Smoking is that e-Cigarette you have in your hand Right Now, then you Really Should have a Complete 2nd Set-Up as a Backup.

So if you have a Second Set-Up, why not load it up with some 18mg/ml e-Liquid and use it when the Craving get Really Bad.

And use your 1st Set-Up with you Lower mg/ml e-Liquid when things are Under Control.

Hello tenbellies. Glad you found us. MTL=mouth to lung draw, similar to a cig. DTL=direct to lung, will better mimic the lung hit you get from a cig. What works for new vapers is quite subjective and does vary from one to the next. Tell us what you are currently using and we can help. Keep in mind vaping is a tool, not a miracle cure. Vaping does work, but you will have withdrawl. Remember every cig you don't smoke is a win.

Welcome and glad you joined.
I have enclosed some information that may be helpful.
Might like to read the section in V4 regarding Nicotine delivery efficiency:
A list of symptoms when quitting tobacco and changing to an ecigarette

Note this information is pertinent to mouth to lung inhaling only.
Nicotine Strengths In Refill Liquid

Yes it does go away but you have to stay the course. When the urge hits smoke one and go right back to vaping. After a couple months it's more psychological... I always equated it to the little elf on my shoulder saying oh just try one to see if you want it. Of course you just have to try and see if vaping works. I had my last cig at 7mos in and had to run and brush my teeth it was awful and none since. Smoked almost 50 years and I am absolutely amazed how much better I feel.

I don't know what you are vaping on but I started out mtl vaping and was not satisfied until I dl. It felt like I was actually inhaling something and at 6 nic gave me a good fix.

That's just my experience but I wasn't able to take vaping seriously until I dl and now I enjoy it more than cigarettes. It does take time though...

I am in the minority of people who needed dtl to quit. Maybe pick up a Kanger Toptank which will let you experiment with dtl and mtl. Versatile tank when it comes to af, air flow, and has good coil options. Picking up a cheap reliable 30w Eleaf istick wouldn't hurt either.

I have nothing to add to the thread that others haven't added already but just want to say keep it up! It gets harder before it gets better. When I quit the first month was difficult, but afterwards it was smooth sailing. Just gotta get over the hump.

Nothing is more satisfying somewhere down the line than realising you automatically said "I don't smoke" when someone asked. :w00t:
