I've been a Canon guy way back when I was still using film cameras. I've got too much invested in lenses to switch.
I love Canon, and my old film camera is Canon as well. Always preferred them, but even refurbished their cameras are a bit more cost-wise. Heck, the T3i is still the same price as the T5i every where I looked. Nikon definitely isn't bad, though, and it will be a good starter camera. I don't have anything invested like you, and I probably won't be buying too many lenses. At least for a while. :p

I hear ya, the few friends [well friends of Jake that I get along with anyways lol] I have are dudes, and except for the few ladies in here all my online friends are dudes too. Me and chicks don't really get along in RL, don't know why, kinda sucks...but it is what it is. *shrugs*
I've never had an over abundance of friends but one real life friend would be nice. I love my hubby, as he is the only friend I have, I can't be that bad of person, can I?

I'm just in a pissy mood. I need a friend to do girly stuff with, unfortunately I live in a place that doesn't have any decent people to make friends with. I has the sad.
Aww! I'll go shopping with ya. Meet me on Amazon! :D

I settled on one that wasn't 100% what I wanted, but it was 'good enough.' I was debating between the Nikon D5300 and Canon T5i forever, but I ended up getting the Nikon D5100. It's also not new, but it is refurbished by Nikon and comes with a 90-day warranty from them. Fit my current budget a lot better and I can always upgrade in the future.
I love refurbished electronics! I got my Cuisinart (Keurig) for $100 when they were still $200 new. My microwave is refurbished and so is my smart watch. I just don't see the need to pay full retail when I can get the same thing for smaller dollars, lol! Oh and both Garmins are refurbished, too! Can't remember what else but I know I buy a lot of stuff that way. Oh! My Vitamix! Got that for $150 off retail with the same warranty as a new one. :) I think it's great you got a Nikon. You can't beat the picture quality from that camera!

I'm in the same mood today for some reason. I don't have any real life girlfriends, either. That WOULD help, wouldn't it? I just feel crabby sometimes, and this is one of those days. I'm gonna go work in the kitchen. Chicklet will keep me company, I guess. :)
We're here for your fun and entertainment, too! We might not be as cute as Chicklet, but we are pretty danged good company. :D

Canon is amazing, too! I would be happy with either a Nikon or a Canon. My dad has an old film Nikon that I keep trying to get him to give me. He has a ton of lenses (got them when we lived in Germany) and he says it isn't as good as the new digitals, but it really does take gorgeous pictures. Maybe someday he will relent and hand it over. :D

Well then I feel extra special! :D Before I got into recovery all my friends were dudes, too. I distrusted the wimmins, lol.

Yep! I basically got it for half the price of a new one. It was actually a little more when I decided to buy it, but I waited until the next morning to order and it had gone on sale for another $30 off, lol.

OH! LoL I don't know why I randomly thought of it just now, but the other day when it was like -2 here, Jake threw out some pasta but missed the bin, by the time I got downstairs to pick it up it was frozen solid. So I was sitting there staring at it..like hmm..pasta ice..maybe in v8? naaaahhh then kicked some of it out in the yard, managed to bounce a few off the toolshed.

Back in the dawn of the SLR camera in the 60's and 70's, Nikon was the predominant choice of professional photographers as they were built like tanks and didn't have all the newfangled electronic metering systems that would require batteries and could fail. This is why almost every photojournalist working in remote locations and war zones relied on their Nikons and Nikons was the standard that every other camera was measured up against. By the 80's and 90's, more and more pros started using Canon cameras, specifically because of the quality of the Canon L pro lenses. It was also during this time that Nikon tried to control costs by moving most of their lens manufacturing to countries outside of Japan, and the drop in quality showed. I have some friends that use Nikon gear and to this day, they still will only purchase Nikon lenses if they were made in Japan.

That's so great to hear! Zeus is going to teach her all kinds of stuff, good AND bad, lol! It's so sweet that they love each other already.
She is a tough little thing! She was trying to guard his food bowl the other day.....we had to remove her. Zeus was so calm, and made us really proud :) It is easier having a buddy for her than it was whrn Zeus was a puppy without a buddy. She chews on Zeus instead of us :) lol

My Hida scan is tomorrow evening at 3pm....and I am scared. I hate to admit that. From what I could read about a Hida scan, it sounds like I will be getting an iv with radiation injected into me. I hate needles, and then on top of not being able to eat past 9 AM I am afraid I am going to be a mess. I just pray I do not get nauseous before I go. Anytime I go too long without eating I get so sick that I can barely function. I am not looking forward to this....I wish they would have explained what the procedure was to be. I am hoping for no needles, and instead be made to drink something. the doctor in my town said I would be made to drink something, but i have had to go to a hospital in the next county over for all of this and the doctor office in my town are not the best quality, and he told me that before I even had the ultrasound. I am just nervous, and I do not know what to expect.....and needed someone to vent to.
