Anybody else ever just forget to vape and go without for several hours?

I've done it a few times now - I'll be doing something; tinkering in the shop, or at work doing a project, watching TV, surfing the net, or just reading a book.

Several hours will go by and then I suddenly realize I hadnt had a puff in a long time and then I'll go looking for where I'd last put down the Ego.

Man, that NEVER happened with a analog smoke, no matter how distracted I'd get, after an hour and a half I'd start the "need a smoke" bit - after 2 hours "gotta have a smoke" - after 3 hours "damn, I'm gonna die if I dont get a smoke" - and it'd just get worse from there.

I've actually chewed on a cigarette on an airplane just to get a hit of tobacco. Pathetic.

I was a pack+ a day smoker for 28 years with never more than a 3 month break. I never would have thunk I'd ever just forget to smoke.

I'm vaping 18mg juice, about 3-4 ml a day (the Ego mega cartomizers are thirsty) I'd do about 2-3 ml a day on the 510 mega cart/atty.

So, you ever just forget to vape?

I know what you mean. ;)

Sometimes I forget to vape for hours. And like you, I could never do that when I smoked. My ciggie timer went off in my head every half-hour like clockwork, and if I didn't get my ciggie within 10 minutes of that alarm going off, whoever or whatever was in my way was in serious trouble.

It's good not to feel so controlled by it. I'm still a more pleasant person with nic than without, and I don't especially like that... but I'm not as fiendish as I was and I don't feel like a basketcase without it like I did when I couldn't have a cig for a few hours.

This happens to me almost every Sunday. I'll go through the majority of the day and then at like 9pm, I'll see my SB sitting there on my desk and think,"God, I went through another entire Sunday without taking a vape." It really makes me wonder if a significant portion of vaping's success can be attributed to a type of placebo effect. Again, as in everything involving every facet of vaping; real, rigorous, peer-reviewable studies need to be undertaken.

I'm in this group, after 11 months vaping.

At work, I am feeling no need to make unauthorized trips outdoors to sneak a nicotine break in. In my smoking days I'd easily kill an entire pack of cigarette in five hours when playing on the computer.

I also like that I can take two or three hits if the urge hits me and then set it down ... instead of smoking a whole cigarette.

I don't know what to think. When I'm vaping too high of nic, I know it - so I must be getting nic.

But why is it so easy to forget to vape after you've been doing it a while?

I wonder if nicotine by itself is not so much of a force as nicotine plus everything else. There's plenty of other addictive substances in cigs, many of which compliment the chemical process that nicotine induces. Perhaps they're stronger together than they are apart. And the satisfaction of getting the habitual side allows us to let go of all the other chemicals.

But, like you said, we need some studies on this.

Oddly enough I forget like clockwork too. Pick it up for the first time after lunch, vape past dinner and unless I'm out at a bar or something, I just put it down and forget to pick it back up unless I hit the forums or live chat at night. I find the entire process, the transition to vaping, fascinating. I think I stopped analogs because vaping is the closest thing to them and yet I don't do anything the same way as I did just a few short months ago. That once an hour itch is just...gone.

I've also forgotten to get my first nicotine hit of the morning. I'll just get up, do my normal getting ready routine (about an hour), then I'll pick up my PV and finally start vaping as I head out the door.

With an analog, having a smoke first think in the morning was absolutely required.

I remember reading a study somewhere that nicotine replacement therapy was something like 70% more effective than just cold turkey quitting, maybe there's something to that and we're seeing the mechanism behind it.

I visit a lot of clients, normally have 1 to 2 hour meetings. I used to be looking a the clock (not very professional) after about an hour and always hoped that my customers smoked. I can honestly say when I walk into their offices I don't even think about it any more, I just keep my PV in the car and use it when I'm on my way to the next meeting or when I'm going home, amazing really. (I used to smoke 20 a day for about 25 years)

I habitually forget now to vape....I've even gone almost entire days without picking up my pv. By accident. And I don't need a wake and vape like I used to. I can go hours in the mornings without vaping. As time goes on, I've noticed an increase in this bahavior. And as much as I love the habbit now that it doesn't involve fire, I can honestly say...Nicotine free days are ahead of me. I can feel lit.

The other day, I didn't vape the whole day but when I laid down for the night. I was like OMG I didn't vape all day, What is wrong
? lol I left my analog habit behind and I'm scared to quit vaping b/c I THINK I will go back to analogs. Maybe one day I will be able to vape 0 nic juice but I just love the act of vaping.

I've been almost a year vaping with zero cigarettes. I'm amazed how many times I've had my morning coffee, got ready for work, headed out the door, and only then realized I had not even vaped once! I had smoked for 25 plus years before that, and did NOT want to quit except my husband who wanted me to. He had smoked for many more years, and he vapes zero nic now.. I
am not there yet, but still... what a great thing to forget to vape! And cigarettes??? I cringe when I smell them in parking lots, etc... How gross, lol!

I use that time to lower my nic. When I started I needed the 48 mg of nic (36 mg + 10-12 ciggs a day), now I'm down to 20 mg and the time is upon me to go down to 18. I wait until I can go 4 hours at a time. Of course when I decrease my nic, the time increases to put my PV down. But this way I'm going down. My goal is to be down to 0 by April or at least 6mg during those stressful times.
