They aren't supposed to get a good whoopen any more, that's what is wrong with them.
Done me good. heheee
Flagging now.
I got a phone call from my 16 yr old's school principle last week. There is a kid in some of his classes who is a royal jerk. Hi picks and agitates and is just plain annoying. This seems to be the general consensus of the other students and some of the teachers. My son finally had enough of his jerkness, and basically told the kid where to go and what he could do when he got there. I agree with the sentiment, but my son's vocabulary choices were "not appropriate in a school setting"
So they called me. I told the principle that he should do what my old band director used to do. He was very strict about language, and if he caught us cussing, we had to wash our mouths out with soap and then breath on him to prove we had done so! (Mr. Ward is one the best men I have ever known. I love and respect him, and think of him often.) The principle, obviously taken aback by my response, goes into this long explanation of the state of Virginia's laws about corporal punishment in schools - physical punishment of any kind is damaging to a child's psyche and all that. They are not allowed to discipline children that way, lawsuits, etc, there are limits on how a parent can discipline their own kids, child protective services, yada, yada, yada.
My response? "Well, Sir. THAT is why you are having such problems with these kids!"
So I had to take my son into a meeting in the office the next day. He got a one day suspension and an interview with the school shrink. From me, he got a smack upside the head (the DiNozzo slap) for using the F word, and a serious talking to about my displeasure at having to get up early and deal with ......... "professional child education experts."
