Quick question do many of us use an 18350 to Sub-Ohm? I understand that 18650 or 26650 make a great platform for sub-ohming. But a lot of what is going on is determined by how many AMPs the battery can push. New 18650 can push up to 40amps which is a good! Isn't a big part of the ability to sub-ohm is how hard the battery can push Amp's especially when speaking of Mech mods with No electronics inbetween.

I want to use a small mech mod with an 18350 with a high enough Amp rating to push it

I've run my purple eFest 10.5A cells at .45ohm, but only as a novelty. The new AW cell has a 12A CDR and should be good down to .35ohm (with no headroom or voltage drop factored in). The big problem is how quickly 18350s fall off, voltage wise. Running moderately low sub-ohm builds with 18350s just isn't practical, unless you really enjoy swapping batteries continuously.

And there you have it.

FWIW the battery PUSHES no power. The concern is to be sure your battey can handle the amps you plan to PULL out of it.

As said above the issue with 18350 batts is not really headroom, although that is concerning, SUB-OHM. The issue is the 2000mah 35A 18650 tends to last 3-4x longer between charges, than 10A 750MAH 18350.

Chipotle.
The highest amp rated 18350 is the Tensai, which carries a 14A rating - Tensai 18350 IMR 700mAh flat top (14A) - 14500, 16340, 18350, 18490, 18500 and 26650 - Rechargeable batteries They can be a bit hard to find/purchase but they are out there, I have two of them and they don't even get warm at 14A with 5 second pulls. The trade-off is of course that at 14A with only 700mah available you get ~15 5 second pulls before you have to charge the battery. Hope you like carrying eight batteries around!

I sub on my aw's work great at .4 ohms but theygo much faster than the juice in my orchids so I use them just for short trips and I keep one on my .4 dripper with my tobacco vape that I just use a few puffs with the coffee in the morning.

I love the 18490's they give me the best ratio between size and time, those are my go to ones

IMHO, trying to sub-ohm on any 18350 IMR would be a waste of time and batteries. You need at least an AW 18490 IMR, and even that will have a low battery useage if you planned on using it all day. The best option for sub-ohming is an 18650 or 26650 IMR.

There are NO true 40 amp batteries. The highest amp (max continuous discharge rate) battery is 30 amps made by Sony and Orbtronics, and word is that the Sony's are being discontinued. Final word on Sony's production plans for the US18650 VTC4 and the US18650 VTC5 (April 9, 2015)

Next best is 20 amps continuous. Several batteries manufacturers carry a 20 amp continuous battery (see list in 1st link below):

Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised

We don't pay attention to "pulse" discharge rates, which are often used by certain manufacturers and vendors to mislead unsuspecting customers to buy their batteries over competitor brands.

Over time I've moved to all 18350s. I just like a smaller mod. I'm using the AW 18350 800mAh & 700mAh batteries. I vape between .85ohm to .9ohm. Works great for me. The charts say never to go below .8ohm on the 18350 batteries.

I vape about 4 different flavors/mods during the day so battery recharging is not an issue. I charge once a day.

Then should I just go Mech Mod or some 100W to 150W Box Mod?

I noted that the RDA's hit me like a ton on Bricks even at 6mgs. But I can still hit a Sub Ohm Carto (Mustank with 4 Coils meant for their V12) at 24mg using an Aspire Sub-Ohm Mod - but it doesn't hit me like that RDA at 6mg!

Thank you for all your responses!
