Okay, so after reading and writing various posts, questions and answers, I think everyone is in agreement that 18650s are around for the long haul. Power tools, laptops etc...
What about 18490s and 350s? I can only find aw 490s and awt 350s so are they going to become rare and unlikely to last as long as 650s?

Do people use the smaller batteries anywhere other than vaping?

Harbor Freight sometimes gives away AAA LED flashlights with a purchase. The 3 AAA's are in a plastic holder that is...50mm long. While a 18mm diameter is a little smaller than what the flashlight wants, I found a plastic tube that an 18mm battery would fit into and cut the tube to length. Rechargables will save me over time with not purchasing AAA's. I have two of those flashlights and so bought a pair of 18500s.

Good question.

I have a ton of 18500/490s as I have lots of Provari tubes. Some AW and lots of eFest. The eFests have been good batteries and I bought them as they are cheap in Canada compared to AW and at 10-12W regulated, I am not concerned about safety really. Not a lot of smaller batter options here!

Surprisingly, I have never seen a LG, Sony or Samsung 18500 or even 18350 for that matter.

Be interested to know what these batteries are really intended for as well.

The large battery manufacturers don't really seem to do anything but 18650s (with a few exceptions in 26650s).
