Yours is gorgeous too! It reminds me of a jade bracelet that my mom used to wear all the time, it was supposed to be good for her kidneys. To her credit, she had great kidneys when she passed.

Congrats to misplacedsooner AND to unsure.....I love happy endings! Mike, when you get that beauty, you simply HAVE to bring it to Tulsa one of these days so we can compare REOs! I'm getting two of these 18490s (the Lacewood 4 and the Stabilized Burl 18) that I'm gonna want to show SOMEBODY who knows what I have and can appreciate them. Good luck selling that ProVari....hope it goes fast. I'll bump when I need to, as well. If you can't find batteries anywhere cheaper, I know Vapor Kings has them now and can get them to you pretty quickly.

When you give someone the power to purchase for you by proxy, I don't think you have any right to complain about what you end up with, especially in a 1-shot situation like this. If anyone should have to do the legwork on selling/replacing the purchased unit, it should be the person who tasked the purchaser. The purchaser fulfilled their obligation, the rest is on the actual owner.

Unsure did someone a favor, and isn't being treated with the proper gratitude. This really pisses me off. I'm glad I don't know who the offending party is, I think highly of everyone here and hate having my illusions shattered.

I agree, this really sucks. Now this persons integrity and scruples are in question. If he/she ever wants to gain back the respect of this community, he/she should do the right thing and repay Gil. This really boils my blood and we will find out who it is sooner or later so do the right thing.

One more thing. Gil doesn't deserve to be treated this way.

I'm glad it all worked out in the end, but this in no way absolves the the person Unsure was helping.

Now lets take a look back.
Take a quick look at the first pages in this thread. What do you find there? Wood, wood, cocobolo, wood, wood. And what do we have now? Stabilized wood wherever you look around. Some see an island, some see mineral stones, some see blue water. (And I have called that "crazy colors"!!!)

I guess you don't have to be a prophet but I bet two 24er cradles of good german pilsen, that Rob will do in the next batch of Reos much much more of those stabilized (plastic) woods.

I noticed that, too, Andreas. I couldn't decide between the beautiful woods and the stabilized burls, so I just got one of each. The stabilized burls (all of them!) were just so unique and beautiful....couldn't resist.

Thanks but half the fault falls on me. i was asked to get a particuar one or a very close similiar one tho it was stabilized not the same color. Lets just say I won't be offering again.
EDIT: The person was NOT Mr. President (Ob) I offered him and he thanked me but said he was cool.

I was the first to start Rob on using stabilized wood and Im sure he regrets it. Its much easier to work with normal wood and eaiser (and in most cases cheaper) to obtain.

I right clicked and copied it from the REO site, then used the picture upload on the ECF reply.

On my old iBook and Powerbook, and many other Macs, there is no right click, per se, using the touch pad. So you hover pointer over picture and hold down "ctl" key, and click. Then you have all kinds of options to copy link, mail link, download, "save as," etc. I usually do "save as" to my downloads folder, then upload to Photobucket so I can manipulate the size and many other things. The old iPhoto programs are so basic compared to all the things you can do using Photobucket. (I'm using OS X 10.5 that is the highest my two Macs can go, so there are severe limitations compared to newer Macs.)

It can be difficult to buy for others. I am very specific when I agree or offer to buy. I have their list and know that if it is not one of those I am to stop and not purchase any. That is the only way I will buy for someone else. We learn sometimes as we go and sometimes it is not in our favor.
