Dear all

i would like to ask you about the 18650 batteries. are the IMR one not protected.
- what is the difference between protected and unprotected batteries,
- would the unprotected be damaged from using it .. meaning that if i use it and not notice the drop in charge would it continue to work tell its dead.

- would the
TR-001 Multi-functional 3.7V Charger
over charge the unprotected batteries and damage them.
thanks

There's definitely a difference between protected, unprotected and safe chemistry batteries. Unprotected batteries should NEVER be used with a mod. Protected and safe chemistry are fine. Protected batteries have a circuit that shuts off if the battery goes through a sudden drop in voltage. Safe chemistry batteries will discharge, but not start on fire when this happens.

the IMR's are different chemistry than Lion Batts. That is why no protection circuit in them.
The discharge rate of a normal 18650 is very sufficient for anything you might use it on.
I see no advantage of using IMR 18650's but they are safe. Meaning they will not explode or catch fire.

The tr001 will charge IMRs safely as it will sense voltage max and cut off.

I find AW 18650 Liion batts works very well in any mod I use.

Before you would drain a IMR 18650 battery you would notice a very sharp drop off in vapor. Not hard to tell..

Both type batts are very safe to use. It's up to you.

I'd suggest AW Protected. 18650s have good discharge rate so IMR really isn't necessary in that size unless you'll be using dual coil cartos, then you might want to look into IMR but with the Grand I don't think you will be lol.

I second this! AW is very reputable, trusted brand among us vapers. I use the AW 18650 2900mAh myself and I can tell you from experience that these babies will last you a couple of days!
