I'm kind of a new vaper (5 months) and I only have one VV/VW PV, the SID and a couple of 1000 mah Winders so far. The SID gets constant use, and I charge the battery just about every night. My question is, how do I know when I need to replace the battery? Performance time hasn't dropped off, and I dated the battery when I got it. It's been in constant use since September. Should I be rotating batteries instead? Any advice is appreciated, and thank you in advance.

I think a general rule of thumb with our batteries is around 300 charges before performance starts to drop. I'm sure there's many factors involved in that, someone who knows more than me will have to provide more info.

I assume the drop in performance has to do with internal resistance of the battery increasing as it ages. I have a few 18650s that are well over a year old that have been charged hundreds of times. They still work fine, but don't give as much oomph on a full charge as my newer ones and they need to be recharged sooner.

It's important that the batteries don't get discharged too much, below 3.3 volts is bad, and that they don't get charged above 4.2 volts. Either will greatly shorten the life span. When a battery has noticable drop in performance or won't charge to 4.2 volts it's time to recycle them. I'm guessing some factors involved is how fast they are charged, how old they are and what charge they are stored at, the brand of the battery.. etc.

    No you can't
I use a VAMO and I just replace my first two IMR 18650 2000ma after a year of use being a chain vapor 5 mi daily because I notice that when I got down to around 3.6 volts performance dropped big time the batteries just didn't have enough of get go left and slowly went to 3.2 volt. I also notice this is happening with my IMR 18350 800ma batteries but not as bad yet.

I also have three Vea batteries from Johnson creek that are holding up ok.

Depending on how many batteries and how much you vape would be the answer.

Each battery should hold a charge from 300-500 times.
