Of course, everything went wrong...thought I had an ohmmeter, but it was only a "continuity" meter and didn't really show the ohms, every fire source in the house to burn off the wick and wire was dead, I'm old and couldn't find my strong reading glasses, etc...but in the end, I'm vaping on a coil I made and of course it's the sweetest vape of all, lol. And since I made it myself I know there's a bit of bias there...but I swear it gives more vapor than either the factory made 1.8 or 2.5 ohms that I have on hand.

...

I like this. A lot.

Anyone can sit back and take a hit off a Store Bought Clearo or Carto. It Doesn't take much Skill.

But there is a Certain Satisfaction when you take a Hit off a Coil/Wick that you Made. A Satisfaction that Money Can't buy.

Way to Go Rickey.

I ordered a $9 multimeter from Wally World, figured I could use it to ohm coils and check batteries, light bulbs, electrical outlets, etc. Price was right and more versatile than a coil only meter. (I used to do commercial electrical work, so I'm reasonably safe and hopefully won't electrocute myself!)

I found a guy on ebay selling silica wicks for about $3.50 for 5 feet (in all different sizes) and threw in 25' of Kanthal (also you can pick the sizes) so I figured for less than five bucks I could tinker a bit. Fun so far, but then again I do love to "get my hands dirty" I guess.

The only down side in doing it so far is the aging eyes...but a 3.00 pair of dollar store reading glasses helps get things where I can see them when doing close and tedious work like this.

Great job, I'm just starting to get curious about rebuilding some coils, I need to do some more research on the burning off the wicks and wire, I want to make sure I understand why it is necessary and the exact nature of doing it.. thanks for sharing your info. Ohh, I have an ohmmeter. Lol

Burning wire makes it more rigid and easier to bend (or less springy), and in both cases it helps get rid of unwanted taste.

I bought some silica not long ago and forgot to burn it... Tasted like frikkin perfume. Probably was handled by someone who wore too much..

Head Visor Magnifier Magnifying Glass w 2 LED Lights 4 Lenses for Archaeology | eBay

It is Extremely Useful in that I can work on Something Small and see what I'm doing. But when I need to get up and walk to the garage to get something, I can Flip the Lens Up so it's not like I'm walking Under Water. I have one on my desk. And use I for All Kinds of things.

This little Gizmo is a Must Have also...
