Kanger 2 pro coil replacement pack question?

Well I was playing with some coils trying to rebuild a micro coil, I decided to measure the ohms of a brand new coil right out of the box. The box says 1.8 ohms, yet when measured with my meter reads 2.9, strange? Yet my rebuild ones read 1.8 on the money with 28g and 12 wraps. I wonder if I'm the only one to find this, or is my meter off? Well tried another meter a fluke 87 same thing mine read 1.8 yet the ones right out of the box read 2.9 when there suppose to be 1.8 according to Kanger. The writing on the coil says 1.8 also in fine print. Any thoughts?

I never recommend anyone going by the labeling on the heads. They are all made by hand and each person making them can be doing hundreds if not thousands per day. So there is always room for error, when done by hand and trying to mass produce. I always meter any my wife gets, but most of time I just build them for her.

I'd trust your Fluke 87. It definitely could be due to meter accuracy differences. Also possible they accidentally used the wrong gauge wire? Or maybe it was mismarked or that batch of wire was outside of the specified diameter or resistance per foot specification.

#28 kanthal wire is ideally 0.439 ohms/inch and #29 is .546 ohms/inch (there's some manufacturing tolerance on that though). #30 is .697 ohms/inch.

So if you had 4.1 inches of #28 it would measure 1.80 ohms and if you had 4.1 inches of #29 it would measure 2.24 ohms. 4.1 inches of #30 would measure 2.86 ohms.
