Hi folks,

Like most folks I did a bit of research and was overloaded by info... almost too much. Then I ran across a thread that stated "GET SOMETHING" and start odds are good you will change but do SOMETHING.

Ive been wanting to quit for years and breaking the mechanical ritual was a killer.. But I pulled the trigger ordered an Ego kit with 2 batteries 650s, juice and so on and havent even thought about going back!! love it!

My wife actually smoked more than I did I knew sooner or later it would catch up to both of us.. 20+ years.
I didnt even talk to her about it just did it. On Mon Mar 11th I got my kit and been with it ever since. That night as she was having a real one I wasnt even tempted.. By the end of that night.. she loved it too.

So since both of us have been vaping, out to dinner.. out for drinks.. VERY COOL!!

As mentioned we have just the small kit were you have to load the liquid with the small black mouthpieces and cotton ball. Works for a while then we reload.

Yes, I know we can get bigger batteries and or an APV.

Questions:

What level of nic should we be using? We smoked Menthol lights 100s. It came with a 1.2 nic 10mil vial of juice. She seems to be OK with it but I think I need a bit more?

Since we are 1000% on board.. where is the best value for e-liquid?

I have a ton more questions but this will be the last for this one. I have read that folks dont stay with the e-gos long but what APV would be good fit?

Thanks and love the site folks are pretty friendly!

VAPE ON!

welcome to ECF and congrats on making the switch! I smoked about 1/2 PAD and have been using 24mg(2.4%) e-juice, it seems to work for me. I have some lower nic juice and I feel I need to chain vape that, and I have some higher nic juice that I use for strong cravings, but this will be subjective.

I've been ordering all of my liquid from Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes, USA made E Juice, and Accessories they have excellent prices, great customer service, fast shipping and a huge assortment of flavors. There are plenty of good juice vendors around though, take a look through the e-liquid discussion sub forum for more.

I've only been vaping for a little over a month but I am perfectly happy with my ego battery, though I may pick up a twist or spinner(variable voltage) soon.

One thing you may want to look into is the various juice delivery systems, there are cartomizers, clearomizers, carto/tanks, dripping atomizers, rebuildable systems and each has their own pros and cons.

Good luck, and you've come to the right place :D

You should be using the level of nicotine that you are comfortable with. If you are feeling anxious and jumpy get more nicotine, if you are getting headaches and are nauseous you should use less.
I read somewhere that 50 cents a ml is a good place to be for juice. Some are just over, some are under. It looks like you can mix your own for under 10 cents a ml, including the container.

Congrats to you and your Mrs.! There are lots of great e-liquid vendors (check out the E-Liquid reviews section). One in particular that I have found to have great value is Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes, USA made E Juice, and Accessories - their shipping is very speedy as well. A lot of folks start in the range of 18 to 24mg strength. A good initial strategy is to order multiple strengths of the same flavor so you can find your sweet spot. For example, you can mix equal parts of 24mg and 12mg to get 18mg if you find that 24mg is too strong.

As for an APV, there are tons of choices out there. Take some time to figure out what features are important to you. In my case, I was intrigued by bottom-feeder devices when they first emerged - I was tired of refilling cartomizers constantly. And the thought of an all-mechanical mod appealed to me - no electronics to go haywire. So I bought a REO (reosmods.com), and never looked back. And I have been using rebuildable atomizers for some time now, which IMO have superior performance as well as taking sketchy quality of mass-produced cartos and atty's out of the equation. But that is just one option among many - you may prefer a tube-type mod with a tank, for example. The world is your oyster.

Best of luck on your vaping journey!

Welcome to ECF! I've only been vaping for about 3 weeks, but so far I've found 24mg nic to be the best. Got some 36 on order to try, but think for me the 24 will be the go-to stuff. My wife and I have tried several e-liquids and have found Want2Vape the best tasting so far. But as you will find out taste is very subjective; what one person loves another will hate...

It will be a month for me this next week. I have been using a 24mg mixture so far. Will drop to a 18mg in the next few weeks. I was a pack a day smoker and have been very satisfied. I just this week picked up an ego twist with a vivi nova tank and have been very pleased with this. I will graduate on to bigger APV in the upcoming months......I'm hooked!!!!!

I used to smoke half a pack a day too, I also wouldn't recommend you go higher than 18 ml. I find that clearos kanger MT3 and cartos Smok dual coils are pretty reliable and you can replace their parts rather easily. Both are found at Mount Baker Vapors which, as you already read, is a great vendor for new vapers. If you get juice from them, I recommend green apple and menthol, those two are good right out of the bottle (a downside of vaping, sometimes you need to let your e juices steep and you won't be able to vape them as soon as you get them). Once you find your vaping palate, you can try gourmet juices like Alice in Vapeland, Ahlusion or Heather Heavenly Vapes, they are more expensive and usually require steeping so they probably shouldn't be purchased first if you need juice ASAP. Good luck, and don't worry you're in good hands :).

It seems counterintuitive but the fact that you smoked less than a pack a day doesn't really have any bearing on what nicotine level you need to make the switch. Some light smokers find they need 36mg; some are good with 12mg. You won't know for sure until you experiment.
I started with 18ml and quickly go down to 6ml because I had nausea and dizziness, but yeah, to each his own.

+anudda 1 for Mt. Baker! So speedy with their shipping, plus they throw in a goodie. :) disbo, I did menthol lights as well & find that 24mg is good for me (for now. have only been vaping ~1.5mos); I plan to step down over time. Funny thing: I must've tried a _super_ strong menthol vape & ended up coughing up a storm in the B&M shop I tried it in (in my defense I was also dealing with allergies. my story & I'm sticking to it), & haven't touched methol e-liquids since. For me, I find fruity & dessert flavors pretty satisfying in menthol's stead. Good luck to you & the mrs.!

Congrats for making the switch! As for nic level I started at 18mg but still had crazy cravings to smoke. A suggestion from Ella at our local B&M was to keep one tank filled with 24mg to use when the cravings hit and use 18mg the rest of the time. It worked!! I used to smoke up to 2 packs a day (Virginia Slims 120's), started vaping just after Xmas last year but wasn't able to completey get of the cigs until I switched to a higher nicotine juice. Now I'm at 3+ weeks completely cig free!

Best of luck to you, sometimes it just takes some experimenting to find what really works.

Meowzebub I also have had the same experience with menthol e juices. I used to smoke menthols so thought I'd do well with menthol juices. I hacked out my lungs when I tried Jungle Juice and probably will pass along the rest of the juice to another vaper!
