1st Post - Cartos vs 2 Pieces.

Cartos or 2 Piece? What are the pros and cons?

After reading much here I have gone from the Blu disposables (quickly - because they were expensive and I was a heavy smoker) to a kGo. I am currently using 3 different cartos:

[FONT=&] Ego Mega Clear Dual Coil Cartomizer Flat Tip - I like these especially at home.

[/FONT][FONT=&] Boge LR 510 Cartomizer - these are good too, smaller and look less weird in public[/FONT].

[FONT=&]smok Tech XL 510 Single Coil Cartomizers - starting to dislike these. I am having problems[/FONT] getting it filled correctly. Some ejuice seems to be too thin and even after flooding it and cleaning up the mess I can't seem to fill it enough to get past the burning gauze taste.

Your thoughts on my next step, e.g. should I use a different kind of carto? Move to a 2 piece? If so, what kind. There are so many choices I don't know where to start.

I've been lurking on the forum for weeks. I have learned a ton but I am starting to get overwhelmed by the info. so I thought I would post a direct question instead of reading 5,000 of them. Thank you all for such great discussions and info so far. It has been invaluable.

I use CE3s on my KGO every day as they are more consistent than anything else I tried - and I've tried near everything...

Key in the vid below when pushing carto down into condom of juice is to do it VERY SLOWLY.


I began with Boge cartos, next Smok Tech 1.7 XL cartos, next carto+ tank and now now using Vision Clearomizers. There are also Vivi Nova clearos which I am just testing out. Whether you get Visions or Vivi make sure you get the long wick./ rebuildable versions- easy to rebuild, unscrew old head and screw in new head. The older short wick have wicking issues. Using my Visions for 6 weeks and loving them. Just began using a Vivi Nova.
On my Kgo the Visions look much nicer than the Vivi and, so far, I prefer the Visions.

The video was helpful. I thought I was doing it right, but I will try more slowly. PBusardo's videos are well done, and very helpful. I just subscribed on YouTube and will probably spend hours watching more of his .

Credit goes to PBusardo. LOVE his vids. When pushing carto down, as PB says, don't allow the juice to flow over the top of airway. After the first fill is done properly you should be vaping the way it was meant to be.

I use an 1100mAh KGO with an eGo Vision V3 (rebuildable). No leaks and the taste is great! I used to use a V2 battery and cartomizers....this was a big jump for me and I LOVE IT!!

@candice: why do you use the rebuildable? I think I got one inadvertently and I can't keep the atty/coil/wick piece in the container. It keeps coming apart. I finally gave up on it and saved it for some time in the future when I can figure out what I'm doing wrong

I just recently received my Twist and is attached to a Boge 2.0 Carto in a DCT tank. Learned how to punch with a saddle valve from this forum. I have what might be an interesting method to filling a carto, especially an XL as to fit in the tank, due to my impatience, and the fact that the Boge condoms no longer fight tightly.

I will drip 2 drops in all 4 corners on the top of the carto, then blow short fast and hard 3 times through the tip end of the carto against a towel to avoid a mess.
That will leave the top layer a much lighter color if not completly white.
Repeat those two steps until there is almost no color change to the top layer, or there is a fluid in the air that is blown into the towel. After a few times you will get the feel and know when to stop.

That has worked great, does not cost anything, as it would to buy a filler adaptor or what not, does not waste e-juice all over the outside of the carto and my desk, and works nice and quick.

Just a quick tip from another newbie.

Tried tanks, atomisers, clearomisers etc but going to stick with the boges for a bit. They're the only things I don't get any issues with. I like the standard resistance ones, don't bother with a drip tip.

Yes, yes!! That works.

Your method does take patience, but then I haven't seen anything that doesn't take a few minutes. For me, your method is much more reliable than the bottom up method.
