Yea, so I am the type that dives into something hardcore. Been wanting to give vaping another try for a year since I hated it at first. With cigs going to 10/pack and feeling like a crackhead and sneaking around etc. I had to do something.
I bought an Njoy last year and simply hated it. The carts were ridiculously priced and I found the taste repulsive. I never really got into the "culture" of it like forums, groups etc. so I did not know of the options that were out there. I bought a different unit, a Volcano Magma (Basically a 510 auto) and everything changed. I tried different flavors and was blown away by how much I enjoyed it. (I think I almost overdosed on nicotine the first 2 days). After my wife tried the menthol cart and fell in love, I knew we were both diving in.
I decided to buy a new unit for myself (wife is taking over the Magma) and based on reviews decided on a Joye 510 manual. I have also been up for days reading about mixing and bought a crap load of mixing stuff, my wife had a cupboard full of LorAnn flavors (candy making) so I am 1 week in and have dropped almost 500 bucks (extra batteries, juices, PCC etc.)....is this normal?
Hah... I figure that I have enough supplies to last me over 8 months (juice for years!)...at 9/pack I figure Return on Investment is a little over 2 months. not bad.
I was wondering if there are any like socials etc. in the NJ area, I still find myself hiding when Im in a bar or what ever. I was thinking it would be a good idea (I'm sure it's being done) to have vaping get togethers at a bar to try to increase awareness to vaping etc. I have found alot of people have heard of e-cigs but are unsure and misinformed....BTW 4th day in a row without an Analog...still crave one once in a while but a few vapes stomps it out.

Hey Dawolf, "Is this normal?" ... I guess it is if you have $500.00 to drop on vaping stuff. So, the 510 is the same thing as the Magma isn't it? Just less expensive, right? Anyway,.....
I got a good recipe for a menthol juice. Wanna hear it? Here it goes.
For 30 ml at 18mg nic
I start with 60mg unflavored in PG from UnFlavored Smoke Juice - MFS Inc. (9ml)
then add 15ml of VG from drugstore (I thin it with 5% distilled water)
Then add 5 1/2ml of Tobacco blend flavoring from Perfumers Apprentice - Tobacco Blend (PG)
Then add about 3/4 ml of menthol liquid from Perfumers Apprentice - Menthol Liquid
and then, for 30ml, I add about 15 drops of Everclear (151 proof Pure Grain Alcohol) for a little kick. 151 rum or a strong vodka will work too.
Perfumer's Apprentice is a great place for flavorings.
Enjoy!

Welcome on ECF Dawolf, glad you gave ecig another chance, they're really great and as you can now see yes they work! Just need to try a few PV and liquids to find what you like first, so yes 500$ is normal and we all know you'll spend more very soon.

If you still crave an analog I'd say go ahead and light it up, you might be surprised one day how nasty they'll taste :)

Oh, and the NJoy NPro was my first ecig. Bought it in a truck stop almost a year ago. Hated it, but I saw the potential. Eventually gave Google a try and wound up here. It took me about 3 months to quit smoking entirely, but I haven't smoked a cigarette since a couple of days after Christmas of '09. I used to smoke 3 packs of Kools per day. :)

Mistin, thanks for the recipe, I will give it a try. The Magma is a 510, not necessarily cheaper, just a pretty package and it is an auto (no button) packaged with a PCC. I just got the equivalent Joye 510 manual for a little less than I paid for my Volcano.

quasimod, 3 packs of Kools? Damn how did you breathe?...speaking of, how has your breathing/overall cardio improved since switching to Vaping?

Zurd, I am a little repulsed already by the mere smell of them. I will probably cave after I have a few beers over the weekend...we'll see if the vape can overcome.

Are there lots of recipes on here? Any good resources/tips for a wannabe DIYer?

Dawolf,
I'm with you. I bought a Blu e-cig and hated it. No vapor, bad flavor, but I saw e-cigs potential. I surfed YouTube and went with a 510 starter kit. I love it. My wife has also quit smoking now and has converted to vaping herself. I figure we will save $1200-$1500 per year so $500 is not that bad. You just might want to pace yourself. As you continue, you will probably find other products you just can't live without in a short time. No point in having tons of products you don't use anymore because you've settled in to sometime you love. Also, start with 3ml bottles of e-juice. I have 10 and 30ml bottles I'll never go through because I thought I'd love them.

Breathing improved dramatically at first, then plateaued. Turns out I need to exercise, too. Bah.
