my original attys that I used for around 2 months..

last night I was bored and was cleaning up and had tossed them in a box, decided to give them a try again before tossing them... well neither of them would produce any vapor.. they had been soaked in everclear soaked in very hot distilled water ext before I had given up on them originally..

anyways.. I took the first one and did a dry burn on it.. 20 seconds and it only warmed up a bit.. so I held the button for around 45 and there was a faint glow.. I kept this up for awhile enough to get my battery hot.. but the atty still was not glowing but there was a small abount of vapor.. just enough to see it.. so i dropped a single drop of pg on it.. well it went poof.. and the atty instantly glew bright red and started vaping.. both of them are running like new again..

I am really becoming a big fan of the "dry burn" along with water rinsing to bring some of these back.

On a standard PT, I will continue to do the dry burn and cooling cycle (you need to be careful here because there is a plastic washer in the 510 Joye atty that can melt) until I can get a coil to go "red" in under a second. Once I get to that point, one more warm water rinse.. dry her out.. and I'm usually good to go.

yeah the dry burn worked good.. these 2 where in the throw in the trash box and now they work like new.. one basically did not even get warm till it was on for atleast 30 seconds if not more.. but now its going bright red fast..

i like the alcohol wash a bit more drys faster gets rid of tastes of strong flavors better i think too..

I had a 510 atty go bad while on the road and stuck it in my pants pocket to dispose of later. Of course, I forgot about it, tossed britches in the washer/dryer and found it post-dryer bounce.

I doused bad atty with drops of juice and let it sit a few hours. After a longish hot burn with a manual battery, I heard a "pop" sound. Today it's my favorite atomizer.

Don't try this with a healthy atty. Your mileage may vary and I wash with green detergents. :)

Dry burn and ultrasonic cleaner with plain tap water, plus my own DIY clear/nearly colorless juices are what I swear by. My atomizers got a lot of baked-on crud on the coil and coil wick when I used commercial Chinese liquid.

Here's a couple of pictures of a 4+ month old 510 atomizer I've cleaned that way. I tried to show the coil area, but it's mostly in shadow or hidden by the bridge - but it's got a gray coil surrounding white wick. Clean like new and the nickel foam mesh is as absorbent as ever.

Just brought my first 510 atty back to life using this method. Just a quick soak in warm water, dried for a couple hours, attached to battery and it wasn't glowing. I kept burning for about 30sec till I saw a faint glow, dripped a drop of liquid on it. Now get to glowing in under a sec... GREAT! One more rinse and hopefully this atty is saved.

Can you do a dry burn on an automatic? (No button)

Yes... you really can usually, but you'll have to do it in a mirror!

Go to the mirror, install the atty on the battery... aim the atty end at the mirror and (brace yourself), suck/blow on the LED ashcap. On most manual batteries that will actuate the unit. You need the mirror so you can keep an eye on the atty to see when it glows red.

You don't have any manual batteries or a manual PT?
