2 basic DIY questions I didn't see mentioned in stickies

I plan to get into DIY and looked through the stickied threads for information.

I saw that sweetener such as sugarlose is a must have. Can someone explain why? Aren't the flavour concentrates already sweet if they're supposed to be? For example, how can you make something with a strawberry taste and have it not be sweet? Is it common for the end product to lack sweetness regardless of the flavour concentrates used?

Second question, is there a reason to buy separate PG/VG oils, mix them yourself to get your preferred balance and then add a strong nicotine concentrate and dilute it to the desired strength?
Maybe I'm just not a terribly picky guy, but if I'm perfectly happy with an unflavored 30/70 PG/VG juice at 3-6mg then there's no real drawback to buying it already mixed and letting me skip a few steps of the process?
All I would need to do with such a base would be to figure out the appropriate % of flavour concentrates to add and possibly some sweetener?

I gave up buying commercial juices cause of the sweeteners that are being used. I was drinking gallons of water during the day and up all night ......, like I was literally parched all the time. I may be getting old but my plumbing works just fine. Now I DIY juices, make the flavors I want and add no sweetener, drink a fraction of the water and sleep all night.

There are other flavorings (secondary) that can be used to sweeten a juice such as cotton candy. That's how I sweeten my mixes.

I have 100mg nicotine base, but I also will buy 70/30/6 in liters too and just add flavoring. I might lose a bit of nic. percentage, but I'm ok with that.

Well damn, didn't realize it was specifically the sweeteners they used that dried me out that much. Maybe this will be a nice change for me too.

As for using other flavourings if you want it sweeter that's a good suggestion, thanks. Even saw some Brown Sugar flavouring.

Another consideration is space. 100mg nicotine takes up a small space in the freezer during storage. By all means you can buy 3-6 mg at your preferred ratio. Super cool that you found something that works for you so easily. It just takes up lots of room and gives you very little flexibilty.

Additionally, no two people taste the same. So what seems overly sweet to one person may need a drop of sweetener for others. Another example is coffee and cream vapes. a drop of sweetener makes them pop to me.
