I'm sure I could have gotten by with spending about $100 or so vs. $900 by sticking with a few Volt batteries, some cartos, an extra USB charger, and some juice.
But this is also a conscious choice for me - I'm choosing to provide some distraction and ritual to help distract me from quitting cigs. I also try to make this positive by looking forward to trying a new juice or two every day vs. the negative drudgery of trying to quit cigs. I'm mind ....ing myself. hahaha
It's working for me, so I consider it worth every penny, even if a lot of it is unnecessary.
Exactly.
To me the point is to ensure I never go back, to make sure it's consistently enough enjoyable enough to not get irritated with it (or run out of anything I need).
After all, the one thing I DO miss from my old habit is the ease, consistency, and simplicity. This new habit is better, but different. Consistency comes from variety. So, when whatever flavor or atomizer I'm using starts to get frustrating and I start missing the simplicity of smoking, I just change to another for a while, then back to the old one, and so forth.
It works, and it's a lot more fun and interesting than smoking. All the pretty colors, flavors, and cool gadgets are part of why it works so well.
It would probably have worked without spending so much. But, this is too important to me to risk it. I smoked for 37 years and never, ever could quit, not even for one day. Only went without on two days, one when I was deathly ill and the other when I was actually in surgery and recovering. By the next day, I was back to smoking, even after having surgery on my neck!
So, I intend to spend all I want to spend to make this fun and permanent. This has been my salvation. So, if anyone thinks I'm spending too much, well . . .
