Vaseline just melts to easily imo. I have used noalax on SS mods in the past with success, but use it sparingly. I have yet to pickup some food safe silicon and something to polish my current aluminum ggts, which I need to do.

Galling is caused by friction and kinda cold welding process.... on the treads there will be high spots in places and the screwing and unscrewing will eventually cause these raised parts "pips" to weld together...and that will end your fun and vaping with you SS GGTS.

Now only a little vass or other lube is needed to prevent this...generally parts that are not unscrewed often will only need one application but parts that move often will need re-application as the lube turns black (this is metal particles guys) clean of really well and reapply lube check and do this regularly and you wont have a problem....one NOTE dont confuse galling with cross threading...thats a different beast but a bad beast all the same and this too will end your vaping fun with your SS GGTS

[edit] A note on cross threading if this is suspected STOP screwing and pull back
