I think I'm finally getting the hang of it...vaping that is :thumb:
I've been vaping on and off for a few years now with the hopes of quitting smoking (2+ packs a day x 30 years) but was never able to get past the first few hours without grabbing my ciggs.

Two weeks, one day, 1 hour, 38 minutes and 2 seconds to be exact...that's how long it's been since I last smoked a cigarette and, honestly, I've had no desire to smoke.

Not using anything fancy, as far as equipment.
nautilus (full size) w/ 1.8ohm bvc coil
iTaste MVP 20W mod

I think my biggest mistake these past few years when experimenting with vaping was 'thinking' that I needed to find an e-liquid that 'tasted' like my usual tobacco 'full flavored' brand. I had a hell of a time finding any one 'liquid' that came close and was hesitant about trying other flavors (fruity, sweet, etc) .
I also had a heck of a time with finding the right nicotine strength. I found a straight 18mgs was a little too harsh in the back of my throat, (making me cough when I inhaled) but 12 mgs didn't seem to be enough..so I had to get creative.

Last year I started mixing several brands of 'already made' tobacco flavored e-liquids together and then slowly, but surely, I started adding fruit flavored e-liquids until I found a combination that I liked.
It has taken almost a year to find something that I really enjoyed..
'equal parts' mix of
20pg/80vg (high VG) U.S Red W/ 18mg nic (My Freedom Smokes)
80pg/20vg Happy Rancher w/ 12mg nic + 2 extra flavor shots (Mt. Baker Vapor)
which is equivelent to
15 mg Nicotine
50% PG / 50% VG

I think it's this combination of flavoring up above that has really helped me to quit smoking as I've had no desire to smoke cigarettes since I started vaping this combination over two weeks ago.

I prefer a 'tighter' draw, so I use the 1.1mm air hole on my Nautilus and I have found that at 12 watts, the 'Happy Rancher' flavor really comes through the best...
I've never had any issues as far as burnt coils, even with the higher watt settings.
I'm using the same coil I started with 2 weeks ago...averaging about 400-600 puffs a day, and even though it's still going strong, I'll probably replace it this afternoon with a fresh one, as suggested..

I had posted earlier in the week about 'blowing' into my Nautilus gently, first, letting some vapor escape through the airholes, before taking a drag because it just made the flavoring that much sweeter, and I have to say, that still works for me, although I don't do it with every drag.

it's taken a while to get the hang if vaping, almost 4 years, but I am so happy to have finally figured it up and be able to let go of the cigarettes once and for all...and I'm very much enjoying 'vaping' these days versus smoking. I'm even more excited about being able to BREATHE so much easier these past two weeks. (the first time in YEARS)
No coughing, no wheezing, sleeping through the entire night with NO coughing fits...and being able to SMELL.

(..no joke, I walked into a casino the other night up in Vegas and for the first time the smell of SMOKE almost made me gag...it was horrible. I never realized how bad cigarette smoke smelled until now)

anyways..sorry for rambling :p
going back to being a lurker now ;)

Yippee! Congratulations to you!
Especially reaching the point of that very last part of your statement above...is when you know you've probably got smoking finally kicked to the curb. It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it? I remember it well alittle more than 2 years ago for me. You'll be there soon, too, I betcha!

I agree with someone else above - Please don't go back into lurking mode. Who would you have found here to encourage and support you in your journey, provide answers for questions, etc. if we'd all gone into lurking mode? Other newbies need to see and read more stories like yours, find helpful hints/tips in what you post, etc. that may help them as well to transition from smoking to vaping. ALL of us can provide some insight into our own vaping experiences that may help others, too. Just something to think about perhaps. :)

@2pksAday !!!That's Awesome!!!

Don't be hard on yourself, ok?

I quit 7/14/06, my twin brother and sisters' bday. There wasn't any vaping around. If there had been--i wouldn't have had any idea what it was.

To this day, in the early morning, before the sun rises--my nose STILL picks up on a fresh lit cig. And some little stupid part of my brain still goes 'o yeah...'. But over time, staying quit becomes easier. It might take a year or so of feeling like you are gonna lose it. But it does get easier.

And the vaping hobby is just really fun!! What a treat it is when i get a nice setup going!!

A gr8 group here, to help you through the tough times!!
