Hi ECF thanks for putting together a great site. I have been lurking and reading old posts here non stop for 2 1/2 weeks.
I am from South Dakota and we just passed a smoking ban so vaping is taking off big here. I have wanted to try it for a long time but could not justify the $100+ for the crappy ones I had seen for sale. A few weeks ago I found disposables for sale at a bar so I bought 1 for $10 it lasted 24 hours exactly so I bought another one and 24 hours later I was ready to invest in a nice one. I was at the local smoke shop with a friend and I asked about them. They had the crown 7 for about $21 with 2 cartos or the enjoy for about $25. The lady reccomended the crown 7 hydro so I bought it. I wish I would have came here first but it was kind of an impulse buy and it was cheap. I had the same problems everyone does with the cheap ones but it is better than nothing. I am to the point where an analog smoke just does not feel right anymore, and that is a good thing.
I am considering buying the Riva 901 or 510 from LF. I am not really sure what the difference is other than they use different attys etc. If anyone has any advice on what the pros and cons of each are I would welcome any input. I can not afford to buy one right now so I am stuck with the crown 7 for now, which leads to some problems. The smoke shop sells the cartos for about half of what the website sells them for but they can not keep them in stock. I am considering buying some juice samples from FSUSA, (lots of options and good prices) and refilling my cartos I have for now. My other option is if anyone knows if there are any other attys or cartos that will fit on my crown 7 batt. I measured the thread as 7mm by either .75 or .5 I am missing a few pitch gauges out of my tap and die set. I know I should just get the Riva now but I am disabled and waiting on social security so money is tight. I should be able to afford it in about a month. I am a former auto tech and have no problem building my own, being good with electronics and making things from scratch. So if I have to tear apart my crown batt to make something work I'm willing to do that.
I also have a few old cellphones that still have good batteries and am considering making a mod out of them maybe run a couple batts with a rheostat to make it a vv but that is down the road another day.
If anyone has any advice for a broke noob I would appreciate it. BTW sorry for the long post I promise to keep them short in the future
TIA, Neech
