Hello fellow vapor chimneys!

I decided to come share my story with you all because I liked reading these when I was learning about vaping and whatnot. It has now been a little over 2 years since I started vaping. It has had its ups and downs, but since the day I got my first e-cig (an ego), I haven't smoked a single cigarette. Honestly, I don't really have the desire anymore. Why smoke one of those disgusting things when I can get my nicotine with the flavor of fried apples?!

Before I quit, I was about a pack and a half a day smoker of hand rolled cigarettes. I smoked for about 13 years. My health was deteriorating and I developed asthma as an adult. It was bad. Like, the first time I went to the doctor about it, he made me do a breathing treatment (where you breathe through the contraption that has the medicine mix in it and you blow out vapor) right there. He was concerned to say the least. I lived with basically a constant asthma attack for about 2 years. I got to the point where I couldn't take it anymore. I had stumbled across some ads for the e-cig kits (greensmoke or some such) and started looking into them. I was watching video reviews on whatever that little e-cig was when I saw a link to these forums in the comments on youtube. I had found the promised land. So much information and stuff. I got my fill pretty quickly and took the plunge.

I was determined to either make the switch or quit. The first day I got my e cig stuff I went right for it. And then I started feeling like crap. To this day, I don't know if it was the fact that I didn't properly blow the primer out of the attys or if I was having some serious withdrawals from the other crap in cigarettes (probably the latter), but I spent three days feeling pretty nasty. But I was determined. I was going to make it work. After the first few days I stopped having trouble and started really enjoying my vaping experience. I found flavors I liked and I found which strength worked best for me at the time.

The greatest thing of all was, a couple weeks after I quit smoking and started vaping, I woke up and my chest felt clearer than it had in years. I can remember sitting up in bed and taking what felt like the first deep breath I had ever taken. Since that day, I have had very very few asthma problems. They are usually caused by being in close proximity to someone who is smoking for too long, funny enough.

The entire thing has been a miracle and has changed my life. Just the other day, my daughter dropped the shirt from her favorite stuffed animal on the other side of a toys r us parking lot in the middle of the street. She was really upset, so I jogged over there quickly, grabbed it, and jogged back. Much to my shock and amazement, I wasn't even out of breath! When I was a smoker, even before the asthma, I would be huffing and puffing after 15 steps trying to jog.

If you are a newb like I was, and you are reading through these trying to get some inspiration, listen to me. E-cigs work. They require patience and determination, but they really are a viable alternative to smoking. It is infinitely less harmful for the body, and you still get the lovely benefits of relaxing and having a smoke. They changed my life for the better, and I know they can change yours too.

Edit: Look at that banner below this. I still have trouble believing I have avoided smoking that many cigarettes. It is kind of scary, really.
