Hey folks. Been vaping for a while now, knowledgeable in ohms law, safety, etc. I love my standard 20 gauge 5 or 6 wrap duals around a 3mm bit. I prebend for center post and readjust for height when screwed down. But I have run into issues recently. I've bought and destroyed the center post on nearly 4 tugboat v2s. Basically when building a center post build, or standard build for that matter, the center post expands and warps due to how stiff the metal is or maybe I'm tightening them down way to much. I tend to be OCD about the coil build and need it perfect so that may be my problem. I have tried numerous RDAs but I'm used to building on the tugboat and love everything about it, pluse I have all the topcaps and replacement center pins and insulators. I figured that the three post design may be the problem so I went with a Petri 1.5 and still cant get it to how I like it with 20G so I've started attempting to build fused claptons to get a similar vape but with more pliable wire. I was just looking for any advice possible on anything I have discussed. Also I think the center post on a tugboat should be stronger with all the cloud chuckers popping up with their products. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've been looking at that. Love the design of the petri but I am interested in the phenotype. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had 20 gauge building issues.

The velocity and the twisted messes will also fit them okay, the nice thing with two post design is you can wrap your coil and install as is, the twisted messes atty is a strong atty but you wouldnt have to adjust your coils that much as it has a double center post but the only thing is you might end up with the wick a little bunched on the side closest to the cap
my legs are doing the splits and then have a right angle to come out lvl with the post holes. i can take a pic later when i change the cotton.
I might put the same build in my other phenotype-l but space the coils so i dont need to bend my legs plus i will be able to take a slightly longer pull.

I took a few pics for you of the other one i made with a spaced coil of 20g, the only thing i'd say to you is that the flat head screws in my posts are a bit poo, they kept backing off with the pressure of moving the coils height so i swapped em out for grub screws and now they dont move, the size is M3 X 3.
the open coils seem nice on the clouds, first hit spat like hell on my tongue though, its calmed down a bit after a few hits

Try what you may. I did. I always end back on the Tuggy with 20g dualies. Impossible to recreate or better it. There is a thread somewhere talking about how the Tuggy is overpriced and over rated. I just shook my head.
You have to be gentle on the screw down. Finesse it home. Don't muscle it...and buy back up centerposts[emoji6]
I muscle the hell out of it and I think that's my issue. But it feels if I don't crank it down the coils aren't secure. I'm really not a finesse kinda guy, hah.

HA! I use a regular size screwdriver but I go gingerly knowing I could snap the post any moment. Plus, you don't want any shorts. 20g is thick as a slab o bacon!
So after much trial and error. I've gone back to the pitiful dual 22 gauge, 6 wrap around a 2.5 on the Petri. Absolutely hate it but it will hold me over until I get my Tuglyfe DNA 200 box (yes I am still on the Flawless bandwagon). And on top of that my local B&M put my replacement center posts in the destroyed Tugboats and they do not sit flush. I don't feel like messing with them anymore right now. However, I'm thinking with the DNA 200 that I can make big ol dual fused Claptons to sit in the center of the two posts on the Phenotype L and get a good ramp up time and vape. Haven't had the watts to push fused claptons with my current devices as I am sensitive to anything other than kanthal builds. Thoughts and opinons are always welcome.
