The only batteries I use are 18650's and I have two devices that use them. I haven't seen a noticeable shift to 20700's that would make 18650's obsolete...yet. And if the industry does get to that point I'd imagine that adapters will be readily available for quite a while. I have a feeling that if the change happens then it will be gradual enough that it won't be a problem. More like an excuse to upgrade my hardware.

In theory, yes. vastly. In practice not so much currently.

The main thing is 20700 is becoming the new standard in electric cars and it is possible that 18650s may or may not eventually become harder to get.

I'd say ATM 20700 is still pretty much an early adopter technology. More expensive, less convienient, but has significant unrealized potential

I have two mechanical devices that are using a single 20700 (Ijoy). I use a single wire 316L .7 coil and get 6-8 hrs drain down to 3.4v. The fall off is almost unnoticeable until 3.4v-3.5v. There is an increased amperage that is very noticeable from a VCT4 18650. I don't know, other than more mah if there an advantage in a regulated device.

Just after posting I checked my battery on voltmeter 3.0v still good vaper and flavor, think I had it in for 12hrs. I've never drained any battery this low.

Looking at that chart I can see that they do have a really nice trade off between CDR and mAh as long as you get the good ones. It's not critical to me because I won't ever vape even close to 100 Watts, but I appreciate what appears to be a very nice safety buffer. I think that by time I that I switch over to 20700's (if it happens) I'll be happy with the upgrade.

Oh, and: I do think that this is a good example of the klowdz bro klowdz style pushing innovation in the industry. A real interest in higher Wattage is pushing manufacturers to put out more powerful equipment. I have been seeing more and more mods taking multiple (3,4,5,) batteries. It wasn't all that long ago that a dual battery box mod hitting 100 Watts was a big deal. I have to think that this is a good thing. I can even see a near future where my style (MTL) of vaping will be handled by a small device that lasts for days and days on an internal battery though. That would be pretty sweet. Imagine in a few years being able to buy something that looks just like those crappy e-cigs but actually performs well.
