I just spent the last 20 minutes taste testing the new 26 premium cartos (yes, I'm a little dizzy right now)
The short version: the carts I like, I love. The ones I don't, I hate.
The long version:
Let me start by saying that my tastes have changed A LOT since I stopped smoking 7 months ago (that is to say, I got my taste back), so, while I went from smoking Camel lights to vaping almost exclusively tobacco flavors (Kamel and Hilton, specifically), I slowly lost my love for tobacco flavors (or tolerance). I have tried all of the premiums except vanilla and by "tried", I mean at least 3 full 5-10 second drags from all of them. do you see what I do for you people?
While I could review all of the tobacco flavors individually, I'm afraid I could not do them justice, because my reviews would all consist of "Gross, tastes like tobacco", and I know that a lot of you are looking for exactly that. I will say, however, that while I wasn't fond of the flavor, it wasn't a bland, tastes like blah flavor that I've gotten from my attempts at tobacco standard carts over the last couple of months (I keep wanting to go back to Hilton, 'cause I have such fond memories of it).
With the tobacco out of the way, that leaves 17 flavors (menthol flavors count as tobacco, and those all have very specific tastes as well, unlike the standard carts) for review, so... where to begin?
Orange juice- The standard OJ cart tastes like an orange icee, this tastes like orange Juice.
Sour green apple- Tastes like a crisp sour apple, no candy here!
Sour green apple cobbler- tastes like SGA, but fuller, a bit richer and not as crisp.
Peanut butter cup- unlike the original PBC, I can actually taste Chocolate here! it's still VERY PB heavy, but the chocolate is certainly present.
Chocolate- Chocolate here too! it's a much richer, milkier chocolate than its predecessor, I could use more sweetness, but it's a win.
Chocolate Banana- Tastes like a Chocolate covered banana. unless you have no soul, you will like this flavor.
Caramel Mocha Frappucino (CMF)- believe it or not, Premium CMF (PCMF?) is actually better than standard CMF. I know, I know, you don't believe me; "but Symm, how could it be better?" you say. "Buy a box", I say. there's more coffee flavor here. You're welcome.
Cola- I've always had a hard time with the Cola flavors, it's always great at first vape, and this time is no exception, but maybe this time I'll make it through the whole cart still loving it.
Peach- this is nothing like the old peach. I like the old peach. a lot. and I thought it tasted just like an actual peach, until I vaped premium peach. this is probably the closest taste to it's namesake in the lineup.
English Toffee- The old English Toffee flavor always seemed like it was trying too hard, there was almot TOO MUCH toffee flavor for it to be enjoyable. It seems someone had the same opinion, since the premuim ones have enough flavor to let you know it's there (and rich and full bodied), but not enough to make you think it's a dehydrated werthers original.
Doc Pepper-Still doesn't taste like the good doctor, but it's less clove-y and closer to the mark. I'm sure Doc pepper is getting there and I will be buying it in the future... 'cause it's tasty
Watermelon- Very well done, Leaford! it's not a 1:1 watermelon taste, but the Jolly Rancher is dead! not quite as close as peach, but if you like watermelon (not watermelon flavor), this'll be right up your alley... Needs salt...
Strawberry-Like strawberry candy (y'know, the ones with the gooey center), only fuller
Grape-reminiscent of grape juice, with a pixy stik finish
RY4- this one was amazing to me, mostly because I've never liked RY4, and I did...err do! I finally understand what everyone's saying about it! Great flavor! (tastes a lot like the RY4 that used to come in the maroon wrap with the gigantic V4L written on it, for the old timers)
Wintergreen- I was expecting a menthol flavor here, but this tastes no different than if I had peeled a little white tablet from a foil wrapped roll.
555-I know that technically, this is a tobacco flavor, but I've always kinda liked it. Very nutty, but not overwhelming.
To summarize, I spent 20 minutes vaping my head off before writing this review, and an hour writing it, vaping the flavors to find the right words... I have a bit of a throbby head and I' gonna go lay down now...
edit: All in all, I have to say that the only ones I hate are flavors I should never buy to begin with, Tobacco flavors. This includes menthol flavors, and while I can appreciate that each tobacco flavor now has it's own unique flavor profile, I'm not a fan of that genre, so to speak.
Standard carts, good
Premuim carts, better
for a dollar difference, you're cheating yourself to not go premium (even for tobacco flavors)
