WillyB, that sheds a whole new light on this question! So the legit MNKE cells are actually pretty decent performing cells. The graphs in the datasheets at batteryspace certainly look much better than these.
The only problem with battery space is they don't show the identifying marks, which means they can swap manufacturers at will. When I emailed them they refused to say their source, nor confirm if the ones from a few months ago are the same ones they sell today.
Here's some pics from RocketMan with the battery space ones. Note he is very safety conscious so he added a protection circuit from a 18650.
Loaded volts with a
2Ω load.
From the cell itself, bypassing any additional resistance the PCB/wiring/switch may introduce. Same 2Ω load.
That's pretty much the volts folks get with their 2000mA powered '5V' PTs with Joye atties.
The range of attys/cartos I normally use is from 2.5 to 3.2 ohms. For a no-frills 3.7 volt mod, this is tops in my book. The volume is bigger than a flashlight mod, but only because it's got square corners.
Tues: I'm 18 hours into it today (3:30AM) and the 2 ohm loaded voltage is 3.68 volts.
Not too shabby for an $11 cell.
As far as the MNKE's, AvidVapor, Cisco's site, sells them. Can't imagine him using junk/untested cells.
