I thought you were still online, that is the reason for the emphatic NO in my response. You should use the charger recommended for your batteries. There are chargers that can do both (depending on what kind), but you need to make sure. Exactly what type of batteries are you trying to charge?
Also bear in mind that I am a long way from being a battery "expert", but I've been using 3V batteries for a few months. I also stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.
Meanwhile,
this post may answer your question.
I use a Tenergy
PH-123A-3.0 charger to recharge my RCR123A LiFePO4 batteries. In my limited experience, the Tenergy brand chargers have LED's that have a tendency to fail, but they "fail gracefully". By that, I mean that even though they aren't working properly, they still give enough info to tell when your batts are charged. For example, I have one that is red until the batt is charged, but instead of turning green it just goes dark. I have another that has 2 LED's, and one side is dark until both batts are charged, then it turns green. Whatever, I only charge pairs, anyway.
You can buy really nice chargers with electronics to balance and recondition your batts, but they cost anywhere from $200 to $400+. I'm not ever going to own one of those, unless I both win the lottery
and go on a drinking binge.
If you're not in a hurry, and can wait a day or two, this may be an excellent question for the "Ask the Veterans" forum.
