Can I use 3-in-one on my ss and aluminum PV threads? I will eventually pick up some Noalax but the Home Depot folks had no idea what I was talking about and I couldn't find it in the electrical section. Thanks!

You can, but it's messy. Better to use a thin coat of Vaseline until you can get something decent.
I don't know what Noalax is but I assume it's just a dielectric grease. Any electrical department or hardware store should carry it. I could be wrong on Noalax being dielectric grease. Maybe someone here knows for sure.
At multiple Home Depots in multiple states, I have found Noalox near the bags of wire nuts (colored plastic wire connectors). Usually it is hanging on a wall display along side them. They sell a tube (brand is Ideal in blue and white) now for about $3 and a traditional bigger bottle for more ~$7-8.

That's exactly what it is. I would not use 3-in-1 oil on a PV because the fumes are not good to inhale long term. Dielectric can be found inexpensively in automotive and hardware stores, sometimes in a small packet.
I was going to ask the very same question.I just assumed that some sort of food grade lubricant would work.Thanks for the answer!
