Good day,
New member here or I would have posted this in the existing Provari 3 thread :)
I havent however seemed to find any answer to this question (which my subject is giving away).

I currently use an eleaf istick and the screwing/unscrewing of tanks seems like it will take its toll on the threads within a few months (that, or the battery longevity). I'm already equipped with 18X50 batteries for flashlights and the Provari 3 sounds like a good bet. However, my question is how long can I expect the Provari 3 (a relatively expensive unit) to last as it pertains to its threads? Can the threads be protected by a screw passthrough adapter of some sort (which itself would be replaced after a while) ?

Thanks in advance!

The Provari uses a very hard stainless steel. The atomizer threads will damage long before the Provari threads. I have a 3 year old Provari that is still going strong.

Welcome to ECF!

Depending on what type of batteries you're using for flashlights, they may or may not be suitable for a Provari.

There are several devices that have passthrough capability. The MVP 2 is one and some Ego style batteries.

You could also build a passthrough only device, that runs off an AC adapter, very easily.

Edit; I misunderstood your post about a passthrough. I think what you meant was a thread adapter.

I don't know how tough the threads are, but I've always used a 510 to 510 adapter on all my mods. Easier to replace the adapter than sending the mod in for repairs. I use the adapter regardless of how tough the threads on the mod are.

Don't have the link for the adapter. Hopefully someone will come along and provide the link.

Here's one link (but nearly everybody carries these):

Tank Airflow Controller

Tank Airflow Controller

Google airflow controller.

These might be better as it has more support and won't put extra strain on the original 510 threads due to the increased length and the change in the centre of gravity. I've been using this and the adapter (for ego threaded clearos) twg linked above.

Another option would be the a 510 to 510/ego adapter. Someone pointed me to the link once, but I forgot to save it. It looks like the airflow controller, but has both 510 and ego threads. I've not used it before, and hence don't know how it would affect the centre of gravity. Hope this helps.

With the new P3, you can buy extra 510 connectors should the original fail on you. ProVari Caps & Rings

This would have come in very handy when I had broken the threading part of a vivi nova and couldn't get that part out of the Provari 510 connection.

A simple solution and I had to give a roundabout solution. Lol. Now at least I know that the p3 has a removeable 510. I'll now hide in the corner in embarrassment.

nah! Don't hide. The P3 is still so new that these little details get overlooked. I only was interested because I had an issue once...long ago. Had to send the thing in to get fixed cuz I mangled it so badly trying to get that piece out.
