I think one reason blu users might get jumped on so quickly is that Blu has an affiliate program, where they reward people for promoting their product, based on conversion commissions. Someone has to follow a link back to blu and buy something for them to accrue points and a lot of pro-Blue posts sound oddly like someone trying to sell something to someone.

I am a happy blu user, I don't think I will get along here very well as everyone seems to be blu haters, I also have the ego and hate it. Love the no muss no fuss blu's I won't go to a bigger "better" system.

Just keep on using whatever works for you. I think some of the problem here is people are trying to help some that simply will upgrade later, so avoid the rush and start that way. Different people vape different ways. As far as ECF being the only people that vape, well obviously that's not correct. There are lots of people that vape that are not here on ECF so, I can't help but wonder how any of them have ever succeeded.

I use my blu's still daily while working, I use a 5 v mod box here and there at home or if on the ground. I do love the taste of the blue classic tobacco and love that I can go to walgreens in a pinch and pick up the blu cartos (which will fit on any 510 threaded device just don't try them at higher voltage.

Every one here has things that work for them. Hopefully ten's of thousands of people out there (if not more) not on ECF have things that work for them also. Some people for reasons other than "not mature" have reasons for staying away from the bigger boxes/mods. I personally took that as an insult. The comparison "could be made" that they are simply too lazy to change batteries and cartos as often and MUST use the bigger devices. Or perhaps they lacked the will power to stop smoking on the small little device. See my point?? The discussion can easily go both ways.

To the gentleman that made the comment about arguing with the veterans here.............You sir, do what you think is right for you. NO ONE here knows how you live, your finical status, where, when, and how you vape. The new folks here have a right (an absolute right) to be presented with ALL vaping options available to them that have been tried. I'm not here to earn brownie points with anyone, I'm here to learn and help if possible.

Yes the battery life on the blu sux compared to the bigger devices. Some people like opening the charger case and getting the thing out and such. Some are wanting to load up a device and vape all day no problems, others may not. It's all about choices people, if it works for you, please use it. Tell others, you have that right here. If you think it sucked, then you have the right to say that too.

Vape on.

I agree. Just hate for some unsuspecting new person to think that Blu is just a great model from someone who is pushing the product.

I'd hate for some newbie to get a stacked mod PV and not know anything about lithium batteries. The poor battery life/cartridge life of the blu won't hurt him.

In all seriousness, here's the deal, the battery life on the blu is short, the cartos loose taste soon, HOWEVER...they can and do work for people. You can use the Blu PCC and recharge them, you can refill the blu cartos. They are available anywhere.

Is the blu for a newbie that smoked a ton, works at a place behind a desk where vaping is allowed, needs to have the stick constantly in use for him?? NO probably not. Is there a time and place a blu would be great for some and most likely keep them from lighting an analog? Yep that's true too.

You see vaping is all about choice. Some Vape with no intention of ever quitting. Some vape to try to escape analogs and then eventually plan to quit vaping also. From the start dates of some of the veterans here, I hope I'm a bit more successful than they are if they're still honestly vaping and not just advising. I'd like to quit all of this nicotine and inducing any substance (known dangers or unknown dangers) into my lungs purposely.

As much hate as Blu gets on thse forums, in all honesty if it wasn't for their disposables being in walgreens I probably never would have made the plunge into vaping.

Did I move on from blu withing a month? Yeah, I did.

However, I tried one of the cheap disposables at a gas station and thought it was horrible about a month before I tried again with the Blu disposable and unlike the cheapo gas station one, the blu actually felt like a real menthol smoke to me.

I started vaping in november and have gone from

Blu Disposables ---> Blu starter pack ---> Volcano Magma kit ---> VV Ego batteries ---> Provari is ordered + Liquinator

I honestly am more dissapointed in Volcano than I am blu at this point. Their batteries both died from their own prefilled carts leaking and I think blu's cartos actually tasted better (Menthol + Cherry).

I'm really looking forward to the provari, but if there was a PV the size of a blu battery that actually lasted a whole day I'd be all over it.

I think for some of us half the fun of vaping (and maybe something that helps keep us from analogs) is messing around with our PVs to some extent.

I am quite new and I already love the little bit of altering I have done (de-wicking etc). I am still using a plain 510 st (egos on the way soon - yes multiples! :p), I love trying out the different ways of vaping (dripping, carts, clearos and soon tanks lol). The only thing I dislike is short battery life (atm I have 3 510 batteries on permanent rotation >.<). A blu has a shorter battery life and allows a bit less "fiddling" than most other PVs - that would take a lot of fun out of vaping for me, but I work from home, I have the time to mess around with my PV. If I were desk bound or on the go I can believe I'd LOVE a blu while out of the house.

It's what is really great about vaping, there really is a PV for pretty much everyone and their needs :)

In general, I agree with you. I have recommended mini-battery models to new members who state they are light or social smokers. As you have stated, there is no way for us to really know the smoking habits and needs of a new person asking for advice since we really don't know them. With that in mind and after reading thousands of posts on what works best for the majority, combined with my own experience over three years, I am going to recommend models that statistically have a better chance of helping a person transition to vaping. When I read on average 100 negative posts on the Blu vs one positive post, it makes little sense to me to recommend the Blu.

Alright, I will sadly put my tail between my legs and walk away...lol. Since I've been using my ego at work.....everyone says it looks like a crack pipe. Sorry won't argue with vets anymore.

Dont' feel bad. Just be glad that you work with people who have no clue what a crack pipe looks like.

That's just the ignorance of uneducated people. I think my reply to them would be, "Since you are an expert on "crack", how much crack do you smoke?" I give you thumbs up for vaping your ego openly. I vape my Darwin everywhere. As a group, I've had more sheriff's deputies and police officers ask me where they can get a good PV.

Now, the Darwin. I thought you were going to say that you'd had sheriff's deputies ask how you got your hands on their breathalyzer.

I Agree with not recommending the Blu to most people. Honestly, it's the disposable Blu that should usually get the credit. (although again all disposables are over priced). Around thanksgiving last year I used the disposable Blus on a trip and quite frankly if I had unlimited money, would just use those. Rental car, non smoking home on the trip for a week).

I went to Wal Greens when I got back and bought up the 49 dollar starter kit they have there. The battery life and cartridge life was quite a disappointment however, I learned the limitations of the battery and started refilling the cartos and found that using it within it's limitations it was great while working, or just when I wanted to hold in my mouth hands free. I do use a 5 v box off and on when I feel like something "square"...

Honestly I use my Mistic the most now. find myself while at home or now working at least grabbing it more when the three are laying there together. The battery life is about 3 times the Blu it seems and if I "was" ever to recommend something to a newbie, it would be go to Wal Mart, and grab one of those kits for 27 bucks and try that to see if you're serious about vaping. Then and only then come to ECF and see about the thousands of options out there, read, learn, and then decide.

Blu will always have a special place in my vaping, and honestly I just wish they wouldn't use the sound activated microphone. I never could get the volcano batteries to draw right or, I'd use those. I honestly haven't found something I like as well as the blu up in the air.

Regards,
Deach

This whole discussion is exactly like the one about "Beats by Dre" that pops up constantly on the headphone forum I visit. Many people there have headphones costing thousands. They look at people who still use their stock iBuds the way vapor vets look at people still hooked on analogs and they're eager to help guide them from the dark side. It usually goes like this:

Newbie kid who just spent $250 on his first set of headphones because Justin Bieber wears them and Dr Dre endorses them, so they must be great and he has to tell the world: "WOW, I just got the Beats by Dre. They da Bomb!!!"

Everybody else piling on: "Sorry, kid. You got tooken. You could've gotten any number of cans that work 10X better for $50."

Noob kid: "Huh?? No way. They're the biggest selling headphone out there. They sound awesome. Besides, your headphones look dumb".

Veterans: "McDonalds is the biggest selling restaurant. You just spent $25 for headphones, $25 for bling and $200 for celebrity endorsements."

White Knight: "Cut the noob some slack. At least he discovered something besides his stock iBuds. He'll probably come around later, realized he got screwed, and sneak off to buy something decent when no one is looking. It's hard to admit you got suckered. At least the Beats are a little better than stock iBuds. Why all the hate?"

Veterans: Because it's a sleazy company with a sleazy marketing model that exploits people who don't know any better and sell them over-priced and under-performing garbage. Then those people come here and insist to us with $10,000 Sennheisers that they've discovered the best cans ever."

White Knight: "Well, leave him alone. He's happy and that's what matters. It's his money and his choice."

Veterans: "Yeah, but it gives the whole industry a bad name. It discourages other people who think that's what hi-end headphones sound like and it bullies respectable, well-performing, well engineered brands off the shelves of retailers. Half the display area of Best Buy is hogged by Beats, while the far better cans are either not stocked or are stuck in the corner where they can't be discovered or tested."

That's about the same argument we're seeing here with Blu's. They aren't totally worthless. But, occasionally, I'll hear people remark that e-cigs are a fraud, or they don't work. I'll guarantee you that 95% of the time, the people who say that have only been exposed to brands like Blu, or the kiosks, or the radio "free trials". A minority will catch on and upgrade to a real e-cig. A smaller minority will bend over permanently and stick with them. But the majority will probably just give up due to the ongoing high price and eventually go back to analogs. When the subject of e-cigs comes up among their smoking friends, they'll be the ones to pipe up and say they've tried them but they don't work and anyone who tells you otherwise is a paid shill or a fluke.

That's the real problem with inferior, over-priced, marketing driven products like Blu or Beats. But, unlike headphones, with Blu and his ilk you're dealing with people's lives and health, not their audio enjoyment.

A BIG thumbs up to this post!!! I liked your whole post but this last part is so "on the mark". I have talked to more people locally who have told me, "yeah, I tried the Blu, Smoke Everywhere, etc and they don't work and are just another quit smoking scam. Little or no vaper, very inconsistent, like drawing a sock through a straw, battery lasted 45 minutes, etc. I'll stick with my Marl Reds".

Most people who try vaping are not persistent enough to come to a site like this and really try to see if there is anything better. They just try what ever gets the most hype. I would not be so anti-Blu, Smoke Everywhere, etc if they would at least offer a second "option up" PV like a Kgo, etc. But instead they just push the same poor performer that they have always pushed and have no intention of improving what they offer.

I can't prove this, but I bet there are far more people who used a model like the Blu and went back to smoking than there are people who did more research and found a better alternative. That, IMO, hurts the vaping community.

You're saying anyone that say's products like Blu can work is a 'paid shill or a fluke"? Wow....Again, I simply wish all these people like you that tried them and they didn't work would simply send them to me. I'll pay shipping. But, NO I know you're either gave it away already (why give away something that won't work) or.....trashed them cause in YOUR opinion they're no good...PIF man PIF maybe someone could use them. At some point we're gonna have to agree to disagree....or realize that what works for some may not work for others.

No, I'm not saying that at all. Read it again. I'm saying that people who use an inferior product come away with a bad taste in their mouths (no pun intended). If they haven't bothered to do more research and try a good product of the same type, their impression of the entire genre is based on that inferior product. Then, when the subject comes up, they're the first to give their opinion. If anyone disagrees, they're accused of being a shill.

I've had this happen more than once. I mention to someone that I've quit using e-cigs and they express interest. A third person says e-cigs are a rip-off and they've tried them and they don't work. Then, when I disagree, I'm accused of being a fanboy until I have to explain the differences between the kiosk/trial/Blu types of e-cigs and a real e-cig.

Every time someone tries a kiosk/trial/Blu and fails, they are put off by e-cigs and are skeptical of anyone who claims success with them. And they spread that bad impression to their friends when the subject comes up. They are the "authority" on e-cig among their peers, because they've "tried them".

I'm also not saying that Blus can't work. I'm saying that for the majority of people who try them, they don't work. And for the majority of those people, they'll never try another e-cig.

I would guess that the majority of people who try Blus are not 1/2PAD social smokers. Those people are not the most likely to be so desperate to quit that they plunk down $50 for Blus. Now, that's just a guess, but Blus are probably the biggest selling e-cig. It stands to reason that they are ineffective for the majority of smokers who buy them. Even if I'm wrong on that point, they're certainly ineffective for the hard core smokers who need them the most. How many 1-3 PAD smokers who try Blus/trial/kiosk and fail ever try another e-cig? A minority, I'd wager. Blu and his ilk would be much more tolerable if they had a disclaimer that their product is not recommended for moderate or heavy smokers and presented a better option to those people.

I have found my perfect place for Blu. I quit smoking almost 2yrs ago with Blu. I used them for 6 mos then of course moved on. I have had many Ego's with multiple tanks, atties, carto's, mega this and that. I have 808's, 801 sticks, regular 510's and 901 stuff. I even went all out and spent for a alpha ultra which I love but sits on the shelf and stares at me most of the time. I used all of these large pv's to quit nic now here I am down to 0mg and I still want to smoke. I just bought a new Blu kit a few weeks ago and they are better than they used to be but they ARE still a super mini. If people know what they are getting when buying the Blu and don't need the high nic and huge vapor anymore then I think Blu works great or if you are a social smoker again Blu works great. If you are a 2-4 pack a day smoker you would go broke buying cartos and batteries to keep Blu alive not to mention how much hair you would pull out trying to keep everything charged up. I loved my Blu then and I love it now more than ever I was and am not ready to quit smoking, I like it. My body just kept telling me that it didnt want nic anymore but my brain keeps saying "hubby is going out for a smoke go with him" or "oh is that a beer and a ciggy yum". I think Blu has its place. I have told many smokers about vaping and always steer them away from Blu even though I use one. I tell them the truth MOST people will not be successful in vaping unless they try other products. Some just really like Blu and will keep using it. Other people I know have bought it to help keep themselves from going crazy while quitting smoking. If thats all you want to do it is a good product that is easily available to the public.

I'd like to know these actual statistics also. (Honestly) I would like to know how they're not getting enough vapor out of the Blu. I have bought refil carts locally at Walgreens everywhere in the Metro area here, and all of them have hit awesomely. (classic tobacco flavor). I use them on both the Blu batts and some manual 510 batts.

I agree totally with they need to provide a few alternatives. Blu's sound activated batteries have a learning curve all their own. I tried the volcano's (auto the little ones) and I never could get them to work right no matter what. (the draw but they were at least suction activated).

Any PV that one tries and goes back to analogs is bad for us I totally agree. Vapor, Throat hit, taste, all of these could do it. I came into this deciding it "was" going to work and it has. I love Monster amounts of vapor and modify my juices or order ones that provide what I need. I honestly don't care about TH, I'm kinda glad that's gone (had enough of that for 40 years).

I tell everyone that asks me about whatever PV I'm using at the moment the "whole" story. I let them know that if they get the blu disposable they're gonna be disappointed in the kit. I let them know how to handle that. I tell them what I personally think is a good starting option that's CHEAP. I send them here. For whatever the reason they think my little 5v mod box is for *illegal substances* I set them straight immediately on that one. I also ask their experience on boxes that do that. LOL

Will I ever get a bigger fatter PV? Maybe but I'd like to think I'd stop (via lowering nicotine levels) before I have to do that. If the little box I have quits I'll look into it maybe, I do occasionally like the way some juices taste in the box at the higher voltage. Until then, I'm pretty ok with Blu, 510, Mistic and my 5 V mod box. (thanks Todd)

You pretty much confirmed what sailorman and I are saying. If Blu really worked for the typical smoker, you would not have tried so many other models.

If Blu was completely truthful, they would have a big statment on their site that said: If you are a very light or social smoker, Blu is a probably a good vaping product for you. But if you are the typical one pack a day smoker, you have a higher statistical chance of transitioning to vaping with a better battery model.

And as the saying goes...if pigs could fly....

I'm also saying that Blus can't work.

Yes even the premium 100 might not be for a heavier smoker I agree. I came from 2 packs a day Pall Malls but I guess that's not heavy compared to "some". Like I said in another post my resolve was pretty firm on this.

But the majority will probably just give up due to the ongoing high price and eventually go back to analogs. When the subject of e-cigs comes up among their smoking friends, they'll be the ones to pipe up and say they've tried them but they don't work and anyone who tells you otherwise is a paid shill or a fluke

I don't know why people keep telling me to re-read posts. "anyone that tells you otherwise"....it is what you said. Perhaps not the literal meaning of what you meant but it is what you said.

You know (and I know) the definition of opinion.....I just wish some of this nonsense would stop. Honestly if the little PV hadn't been out there, I and at least 10 others I personally know, would still be on analogs. I know of no one in my personal circle that has had to go back. Will they ever upgrade? Sure maybe some, some don't want to quit vaping either. Some do.

my opinion...blu's advertising is everywhere now and it helps everyone either way, you spend the money to buy it. 80% of people within the first week of using it realize its not hacking it, find ECF and prob upgrade to something better...I had no plan on quiting untill i ran into the blu website, I bought it, tried it, it sucked, found ECF, and bought a ego,...so go blu!!
