30 guage keeps snapping off in drill chuck!!

I'm trying to clapton around 30 guage and cant get more than 2 inches without it snapping. Anyone with experience cloptoning around 30 or thinner could you tell me what you do to prevent this. Im using swivels as well. Ive tried just centering it like a drill bit goes, also tried the 90 deg bend capture with it centered. Tried it between the flat sides of the chuck teeth. what gauge is your other wire?

and where is it snapping? at the chuck or random?

32 and 36 and its always snapping where the chuck is pinching it, very annoying because I have no problem wrapping around 26 guage or even 28 guage. Now with the 30 even if after it snaps I reinsert the claptoned portion into the center like a bit or use the 90 deg bend center method it still freaking snaps after like 2-3 inches. Driving me nuts to the point of having to ask for help.

so you are using swivels right? so i presume you are wrapping straight from a spool onto your core wire like in some of the vids out there where you hold the spool at a distance?

I looked at the picture.
All I see is the drill.
Maybe you are using too short a length of 30 gauge wire and or you have the other end of the 30 gauge wire semi-fixed and not allowed to turn

ditch the swivels for this build and try to clapton like in rips video-->

it could even be like edyle said that your swivel isnt turning or maybe you twisted your wire to straighten it and twisted to much so when you come to clapton it something isnt working and the wire is twisting itself off...

i stretch wire to straighten it, it may help but you still need to work out why your twisting off......

I got it guys thank you so much for taking the time to help me out, I was able to do it without the swivel, using the ol protank coil head trick which worked great, not a single break. I guess the 30 is just a bit too thin to keep up with the swivels janky ... turns. Thanks!!!!!!!

You can use swivels with much thinner than 30g but you must have good quality swivels
