If I just used the juice the way it was at 25ml what would the nic level be?.....was wanting it at 8mg but it would of been higher right?

Who knows? We don't know what is in it or what item(s) you made a mistake on. If it adds up to 30ml on paper and that's not what you ended up with then you did it wrong. Plain and simple. Bin it and start over. It only cost you pennies. This time pay closer attention to your measurements. If it adds up to 30 on paper it should be 30ml.

The only other option I could imagine is that your "50ml measuring cup thing" is marked wrong and you are actually measuring it correctly but the larger beaker is reading incorrectly. Carefully measure 30ml's of water in to the 50ml with your graduated cylinder and see what it reads.

Using a scale has proven much more accurate for me.

If you measured in the cylinder and measuring cup, then poured them into the bottle, there was a significant amount that stuck to the sides of your measuring devices. That could easily amount to three or four ml. If you were off even by a little bit in "hitting the mark" on your measurements, then being 5 ml short isn't surprising.

On batches of 60ml or less... I find syringes much more accurate for measuring than either weighing or graduated cylinders.

On your graduated cylinders, it is a good idea to check the accuracy.... Also will show you how to read the scale. Not saying you are doing it wrong, but your perspective to the scale may affect the reading. You can get a different reading with your eye below the line vs above, ect.

+1 on what @Larry J said. The juice will cling to the bottle, flask, beaker whatever. When I make a 250ml batch, I always make around 260 mls because by the time I pour it into 5 - 50 ml bottles, enough has stuck to the flask I would be short on the last bottle. Double check with water first using a syringe and then try again.... Good Luck!

It's easier to make volume measurement mistakes if going by drops or weight

Im not sure why measuring by weight in small amounts would make a difference?

Mixing by weight with a calibrated scale capable of measuring .01 gram increments is the most accurate option available to DIYers. This because .001 increments will drive you nuts.

That it's faster with less cleanup is just icing on the cake of your day. :)

But they said its easier to make volume measurement mistakes by weight. I dont understand why that would be. I do currently use a scale that goes to .01g

Regardless of the amount being made, weight based measuring has proven to be the easiest and most accurate for me.

Please explain why this is, I'm confused.
