the 3400 Efest is a protected battery... the bottom is a gold color, that is the protector... you will also notice a small silver strip attached to the top of the battery too, that is the positive lead that runs to the protector.... it will shut itself off if you push it to its limits... and if the protector fails it fails open thus leaving the battery "dead"...

Panasonic NCR18650B 3400 mAh Green

I do the right thing?

Please refer to my post #11 above. Those Panasonic B 3400mAh batteries are not high drain batteries. Your regulated mod will perform most optimally with a high drain battery as listed in the the first link in that post.

Just picking the battery with the highest mAh is not the correct way to choose a battery for a mod. For our purposes high drain batteries work the best and are the safest to use in a mod.

I had one of them NCR18650B batteries. While I sympathize that they do "last a long time" I respect the advice I got from here (mainly from Baditude) that because it's not a high drain battery, I am not using the best battery - so gave it away.

Just because it's not high drain does not mean it will not "work" - mine worked, but did I trust it after being told it's not ideal? Hell no. I like my front teeth! I jest, but really - it's not worth the risk.

Baditude's battery guides are spot on for people that don't "get" the differences (like me) I would recommend following the advice. It's just too risky to ignore it, honestly. Not meaning to be negative, but your health is important and a battery can do some serious damage if it is not up to the job it is being asked to do.

Just my mutterings - YMMV.

I'd want to point out...not just any high drain either...
A prime example being AW IMR 2000 mAh 18650. Versus AW IMR 1600 mAh 18650

If you don't do your homework you wouldn't know that the 1600 mAh version has the higher Amp limit...

It quite literally -is- a minefield, the world of batteries. Good advice though.

I've often wondered if the surge in e-cig sales will prompt yet more rechargeable batteries to hit the market. I wish I made decent batteries for a living ;) (market is ripe!)

Well crap...

I just bought 4 Panasonic NCR's thinking that 6.8 amp draw would be fine in my vamo and mech.

Ohm Law Calc says that with a 1.2ohm coil they drain would be 3A. I just though hey no problem, we are within the design limits. I didn't even know this subforum was here.

Edit: Fortunately I had just bought 2 of those from amazon and was able to cancel that order. Thank you guys.
