There will come a day when you marvel at how you ever put up with the stench. Out of curiosity, you'll bum a hit off a friend's cig and it will taste terrible. People will come up to you and you'll smell it on them and think they stink. And I can envision the day when I'll start asking friends to go outside to smoke when they visit me (haven't had the guts to do that yet).

I started smoking when I was 15. A pack and a half a day. I'm 53 now, and had my last cig almost 10 months ago. Glad you got a high voltage device to start with. That's what it took for me, too. That and some high strength Red Bull juice. Give it time. If you want to quit, you will be able to quit. If no-willpower, hard-core smoking me can do it, you can do it.

Congrats on quitting analogs and I know what you're going through. I have been quit for 6 months and I still have cravings. I must say that I only do so when my e-cigs just don't seem to be doing the job. I have tried 510, KR808 (?), and Protege. Today, my Protege died, absolutely nothing. I feel like a junky going through my stash of 510s and KR808s trying to get one to work good enough to get a good hit.

I miss it dearly sometimes but, like you, I remember all the reasons I quit. I wanted so bad to just go get a pack of smokes today. I was angry and frustrated about the e-cig issues. I didn't do it.

Just keep going day-by-day and remember that like an alcoholic, you can't have just one.

Keep at it!! I am 30, been smoking since 21 (stupid college decision, going out to the bars). Bought the NJOY but didn't like it (didn't last long enough, leaked a lot of the e-liquid into my mouth, vapor production was so-so at best even with Johnson Creek juice, batteries died too fast, etc). After some education on here, bought an 801 pen style from AwesomeVapor. Much better, smooth but still a good hit, satisfies the cravings, much classier IMO than the mini style that looks like a cig (plus draws less attention in public places, a blue LED instead of orange helps and it looks like you are just chewing on an ink pen). I still occasionally have an analog, but after vaping all day I get nothing from it, and it smells like crap.

If you are still having cravings, try a higher strength nicotine liquid (24mg maybe), try holding your draws in longer too.

After going through a smoking cessation course a few years back (before e-cigs were around), they told me that even the strongest nicotine patch, 21mg, doesn't match the nicotine level of a pack-a-day smoker, due to the delivery of the nicotine; through the skin vs. the lungs; the lungs offer the quickest and most pure absorption short of IV injection. Slower delivery of nicotine allows the body to process some of it before it hits the brain (unlike smoking a cig where it goes almost straight to the brain). That said, the doctor told me to not only wear a patch, but to supplement with Nicorette or the Commit lozenge. It did work for a time, but I still missed the routine of smoking. I am in field sales, so my office (my car) is one of the few offices left that allows me to smoke. Plus I am bored, so the habit is to smoke! With the e-cig that has decreased a ton. I still will pop a Commit lozenge in addition to vaping to help with cravings...I even visited the doc I saw during the smoking cessation class recently, and he told me to use the Commit lozenge to build steady nicotine in the body and supplement with the e-cig. He also said that nicotine overdoses are very rare (people who smoke 2-3 packs a day rarely end up in the ER due to nicotine overdose, and that he's only heard of a few cases of it. And this doc was trained at the Mayo Clinic and has years of experience in all forms of addictions treatment)

I have drastically cut down on my analog use since getting the 801 pen style, and may even go to one of the "big guns" that I see on here (those ones that are about 2 inches wide and put out vapor like you just took a hit from a hookah...i forget their names). I will hopefully soon quit the analogs for good!

Sorry for the ramble, good luck to you!

Great job, Tims!

I quit analogs on 11/8/09, 2 - 3 weeks after I got my first kit (a 510). The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was the "ritual"...opening the pack, tamping out a cig, lighting it, the "feel" of it in my hand, and that first long drag...even tapping the ashes off as it burned down. Sure, I can replicate most of those movements, but, in reality, it isn't "quite" the same. I realized after about a month in that I was, in fact, over that part...it was the best feeling ever!

You're doing great...keep it up!

Way to go Tims! I'm with you...I smoked Analogs for about 25 years and just didn't want to die....I've been off 'em since Sept. 2009.

One day at a time and thank God for the ecigs...they helped me.

I wish you the best and Vape for Life!!

Oh yeah, remember....Boy do Smoker's have Baaaaddd Breathe and the Smoking Odor is horrible!
chew some gum and vape some Liquid Xpress honey Flue Cured Ejuice...It helped me and it tastes great!(disclaimer: I am not affiliated with that company and in no way benefit from you buying from them, it's just awesome!)

Vape on!

You too huh? I started at 10 and went 52yrs. I guess if I'm 10 yrs. older than that. I get the urge for a smoke since I started vaping but when I did give in I found it wasn't the cigarette cause it did nothing for me. Didn't even like it other than the smell. I now just stick to vaping. I think it's just the habit, you know, the lighting up, going outside to do it, but it aint nothin. Glad you quit and do yourself a favor and don't start again. Your worth it.

I have been vaping almost 10 months. The first few months I still craved cigarettes and would go outside and smoke a couple. The longer I vaped the worst tobacco cigarettes tasted and I eventually got where I quit smoking because everytime I tried I would get nauseated and start back coughing. It was like when you first start smoking. Now I occasionally get the urge to smoke a cigarette but it passes quickly. I really enjoy vaping more than smoking. Just keep trying and I think you will find its earlier than you think.
