More info to back up what people have been saying here and sane places elswhere:

4 in 10 Americans Breathe Unhealthy Air: Report: MedlinePlus

Here's an article that includes more info about how horrible a problem California has:

Four in 10 Americans Are Breathing Unhealthy, Polluted Air. Are you? - NBC News

Sure looks like public health fraud in California distracts attention from, and worse than wastes resources that could be used to combat actual threats to clean breathing. But they'd rather try to frighten the public about things as absurd as dangers from 3rd hand vapor.

I am astonished that it is only 4 in 10, I would think 8 in 10 breathe unhealthy air.

I agree; anyone who drives in any kind of traffic, or on interstates, or works in a commercial kitchen, or most light-industrial plants -- my husband works in a plant where cardboard is cut and glued to make boxes; I shudder to think at the crap he inhales every day at work -- I *see* the cardboard dust on his hat!

Tackling real issues for the CDPH is just to much like hard work.

Right -- it might interfere with those 3-cosmo lunches, which are of course followed by 3 espressos, to get them sober enough to go back to "work".

PS: Love your sig line -- so absolutely true, but right now all those billionaires seem to think they can make it into a salad. It's green, right??? I've never understood the need to make more, more, more... by those who already have more than they, their children, and their grandchildren can spend if they all lived to be 1000.

Oh ye suckers! If you fall for their claptrap about particulates, you've LOST. They fear-monger about particulates from e-cigs, too. And no they aren't going to agree with you that it's so much less than from 'air pollution.' That's why they need to be attacked for how they ignore the role of infections, such as human papillomaviruses in lung cancer and cytomegalovirus in COPD.

Cytomegalovirus Is Implicated in COPD

The human exhale contains 4-5% carbon dioxide, well over the safe limit and the ambient 0.035% concentration. At this concentration, CO2 can cause headache, dizziness, restlessness, paresthesia; dyspnea (breathing difficulty); sweating, malaise (vague feeling of discomfort); increased heart rate, cardiac output, blood pressure; coma; asphyxia; convulsions.

Obviously exhaling should be banned from public spaces such as government buildings.
