i dunno, the way the laws are now in this state u could still get shot and they'd simply say that u were
threatening them and advancing and they were scared for their life.
I always have a standard hold harmess order from the finance company which allows me to legally perform a repossession on their behalf which gets called into the sheriff's office after it takes place. Now, If the debtor wants to get extremely hostile and
threaten, then yes I would back down and leave as it would be a breach of peace.
Most smaller local finance companies (like American General, Nicolas Financial, Grow Financial and others) actually employ people full time to knock on doors, collect payment or to take the vehicle (or call a repo agent while blocking the collateral in the driveway).
I've been doing this for a few years, and the worst thing that has happened is a guy in Tampa by progress park(yikes!)
threatened to release his pitbull, needless to say I declined the offer and was on my way(called the office and told them to get a real agent!). These companies usually do this because a full on recovery agent runs from $350-500 depending on situation/vehicle size. If one of the door knockers gets lucky and gets a vehicle, they get about half of that(usually less than half).
