So now that I've learned a TON (thanks to this wonderful forum) I really really want a 510. however, I'm kind of not rich (ie BROKE). Has anyone tried the 40x to 510 adapter?? I figure, for now, I can have the 510 atomizer experience on my already owned 402 batteries...

I'm pretty sure they are not compatible.
But you can get a 401/402/403 atomizer to 510 adapter.
I have no idea where, but I know I've seen it posted.

litecig has the adapter to use the 40x series batteries with the 510 atomizers. I was just concerned with (if any) voltage differences. I mean, if the 510 needs more juice than my 402 can put out, I wouldn't do it. I metered my batteries at 3 volts (2.7 when they blink)
The 510 runs at 3.1v even though it is a 3.7v battery.

I wouldn't know for sure, but they are only two weeks old, and I metered it about 4 days ago.. lemme check BOTH my batteries 9when I find my stupid meter) and see if they are metering the same.
If it weren't for my wife, I'd never find anything... My fresh battery just metered 2.778 volts.... My one that is currently charging (been in there for an hour) metered 2.8, but stablized at 2.78

You can use them with a adapter. I have tried 510, 901 and KR8's on my 401 batt's and really didn't care for it. Not enough umph to them. The voltage is just too low imo.

As someone who has both a 401 and a 510, you'll find you'll get a better vape from sticking a 401 atty on a 510 battery rather than the other way round. A 510 atty on a 2.9V 401 battery doesn't get enough juice to work properly, however the 401 atty really appreciates the slight voltage kick from a 3.1V battery (510/Ego/Riva,etc).
This is a whole kettle of fish right there and personal preferences always vary in what atty you will like best.
Each one has different advantages/disadvantages/quirks unique to each model.
Honestly the best thing to do is perhaps pick up 1 and try it and see how you like it. I've tried most model's and have settles on 2 that I use. 1 I like for flavor, the other for when I want TH, vapor and more of a punch.

Don't forget you'll need a 510 to 401 adapter but they're only a couple of bucks.
