sighzzzz.... as usual... the easy way out
Not really.... These are valid concerns if e-cigs
are to be used as a medical product which many advocates in Europe are against controlling them like medical products(Which actually the EU Parliament has legislated recently that e-cigs are to be controlled as medical products).
In the 1st place, e-cigs are not medical products. They do no treat or alleviate any illness or disease. Therefore they should be treated as consumer products like normal
tobacco product or alcoholic beverages. On the point about nicotine being addictive and poisonous, how many daily products we use can kill us? I bet at least 95% of shampoos and soaps out there contain SLS or SLES & cyanide is found in peach pits.
If you look closely, you'll notice that drugs that are used on chronic life threatening diseases do not cure the patient of that disease. It merely alleviate the symptoms or suppress the virus or mutagen. Given the advancement of medical science, I believe that cures are actually not far from being synthesized in labs. However, there is 1 major stumbling block to develop say, a cure for cancer or a cure for HIV and that is money. No one will sponsor studies that will not provide a steady stream of income. Period.
If penicillin was discovered in the 20th century, do you think that bacteria infections will be like child's play today?
People always think that e-cigs are the bane to
tobacco companies but in actual fact, e-cigs hurt pharmaceutical companies more than they hurt
tobacco companies. If all smokers switched to e-cigs today, who will be buying tobacco related cancer drugs & who will be staying in hospitals in 10 years time. Pharma learnt their lesson with Snus in Sweden. This time they are determined to nip e-cig in the bud.
